Two prodigious Liverpool transfer targets to help the club climb back up the table:

|

Brendan Rodgers has worked wonders to get Liverpool back on track. From looking like they were completely down and out, the Reds have brought in Daniel Sturridge and now look like they’re capable of beating anybody on their day.

Whilst they started the season struggling against smaller teams, they’re now winning games 5-0 and don’t look like slowing down.

So credit where it’s due for Brendan Rodgers, but if he wants to keep this up, he may well have further work to do in the January transfer market.

Liverpool have been linked to a number of players over the last month or so, but the most exciting of them all is Philippe Coutinho.

The exciting young Brazilian midfielder is already thought to have been the subject of a £5m Liverpool bid that was rejected by his current club, Inter Milan. But now, according to the Liverpool Echo, the Reds are ready to increase their offer and attempt to push a deal through.

Inter Milan aren’t exactly in the best state financially (they recently sold Wesley Sneijder because they couldn’t afford to keep paying his wages) and may well be willing to sell Coutinho should the right offer come through.

Despite the young Brazilian being highly rated (and once tipped to be the future of Inter’s midfield) he’s by no means a regular starter at Inter Milan. As such, the player in question may be willing to move on to try and find regular game time at a top club like Liverpool.

At this point it’s unclear what it would take to persuade Inter to sell. But, I do hope that Liverpool keep up the fight. At just 20-years-old, Coutinho already has a wealth of talent at his disposal. He’s pacey, has excellent technical ability, can pick out a neat pass and has the confidence to take on other players.

Best of all, he’s versatile – he can play anywhere across the midfield, or even as a Luis Suarez style, secondary striker. This quality is sure to earn him plenty of game time at Anfield. Liverpool could certainly use more squad players of his quality.

The best news? The Echo claim that a deal for Coutinho would not prevent a deal for Tom Ince, who we’ve heard plenty about this January. Brendan Rogders really seems to have this transfer schtick down.

What’s your take? Would Tom Ince and Philippe Coutinho be good additions for Liverpool?

We live in a real world and not , unfortunately,in a world full of super-heroes. The Batmans and Supermans are busy elsewhere. In truth first class players are loathe to move to Liverpool. The prospects for them personally are far from ideal and in a game of such short years the lure of riches now appears to be insurmountable. Most , if not all , players of any high standing prefer greener pastures.

Get it throught your thick skulls ;-( LFC aren’t buying anyone else ??? It’s a smokescreen by ayre & these yanks, too say we did all we could to bring new players in ? But infact they never intended too buy anyone else ? There penny pinching are club into OBLIVION !!! Yet the Boston Redsocks just paid the highest contract EVER in Baseball for a player ;-( ? We are bostons FEEDER CLUB fact ???

    • Igorsuncledave says:

Penny pinching? Do you not remember the money that was spent on carroll, suarez, henderson, adam, downing, borini, enrique, coates, assaidi, yesel to name the main players. This does not count the youth players who continue to filter in.

Mr Jones, and what do you say now abt mr coutinho??

  • peter turley says:

here we go again.by all accounts we are going to lose suarez in the summer.why the hell are we waiting for southampton to beat us to another signing.if the yanks are serious about selling suarez for £40m,then spend £20m now on coutinho, who in my opinion is just as good as suarez, and 5yrs youger.if we lose out to relegation fodder again there is something seriously wrong!!

My god the first two muppets arent united supporters are they? Firstly if you’re going to come on here just to slag the club off – dont bother, we dont need doom merchants like you, secondly – we are in a transition period & its going to take time to get the squad we all crave & from a personal point of view i think rodgers is doing great & it’s all starting to really take shape, i think there will be 1 more signing this month as everyone knows january isn’t the best time to go shopping for bargains! & thirdly…. will you lazy morons PLEASE learn how to spell??!!! If you are going to slag people off the least you can do is learn the difference between ‘are’ & ‘our’ they dont even sound the same when said properly!!!!
Be thankful for what we have – it could be alot worse & the signs are there that we are improving all the time.
YNWA (for those of us who fully appreciate the real meaning) keep up the good work brendan!!

  • Brad says:

Thank you Rich for that rant. Don’t worry this “Dean Jones” idiot is always on every website spewing his conspiracy theories about FSG. Yeah Dean, that’s what were doing, faking out the fans by failing to make every transfer the internet tells you we are working on. You really are thick aren’t you. A thick little baby with toys sprayed around the room from a pram explosion.
We are doing great and we are improving weekly. We just bought DS for 12m and are working on more. People complain when we don’t spend millions but they probably don’t have a pot to piss in.

And don’t get me started on the spelling thing. Are for our? That shows you the intelligence level we’re dealing with right there.

Only want one signing ASAP, BUNTLAND.

3,5 mill for a goalie with his potential is a bargain to good to pass by. If we buy him and loan him back for the rest of the season we may have made a brilliant scoop for the future. If his talent never matirialize we hav lost very little as he would still be worth something. In other words he fits perfectly into the resale strategy of the yanks. Im sure Fergie is still beating himself up these days for not signing Joe Hart when he was valued at 500.000. Buntland is a far better investment at 3.5 mill than most options available in England. With him an Gulacsi the future could very well be secured in that department for a decade (or even two) to come. If we cant get him we have to look to Germany, where the most talented young keepers are plying their trade! I am one of the people that loves Reina and have nothing but respect for hes comitment to the clob, but c`mon if the guy wants to leave he has proven his loyalty in such a matter that he deserves some leway!
