With the announcement of the league reconstruction plans for Scottish football, it is clear that those that run the SPL and SFA have made a desperate grab for total power over the Scottish game. It is clear that David Longmuir, head of the SFL, cannot see the big picture and soon he will be history in this coup d’état of his league.
The SPL and SFL mutating into one entity will only help the enemies of Rangers. It is a power grab and nothing more. What Regan, Doncaster and Lawwell will get is an empire; something that they once thought was unattainable.
We have already seen a campaign to intimidate the SFL clubs, as witnessed in the attempt to bully the first division clubs into taking Rangers in. This reconstruction will consolidate the present regime’s power base and broaden their influence. It will be jobs for the Bhoys all through the Scottish game. How many connections do we have already through nepotism and friendship?
Once again we see the Rangers support slow and lagging far behind the enemies of the club. It is unbelievable that there are some Rangers fans who think that Stewart Regan and those behind him pulling the strings have the good of Scottish football at heart. They don’t. They are driven by the need for power and to save their own positions.
This shake up comes as their power was wavering. Rangers have survived the onslaught and were emerging stronger. This was not lost on the cabal at the helm of the game and a wilful attempt to stop the Rangers juggernaut and fear is at the heart of this “abomination”. It is no coincidence that this power grab comes at a time when Rangers are getting stronger and the top flight is weakening, with poor attendances, falling TV viewing figures and rampant crowd violence not seen on a scale since the seventies. The economy of the SPL is also hanging by a thread.
It takes a total lack of scrutiny and critical thinking to miss what is going on behind the scenes of the Scottish game and allow this blatant power grab – is anyone going to examine the fine print? Once again the media in our country falls asleep on the job.
Rangers must realise that the historic enemies of the club are united in trying to kill or at the very least control the future of the club. If you think it is a hostile environment now, wait until there is one power structure filled with the right kind of person. It will in effect become a closed shop.
Perhaps Charles Green can see the future and it is not looking rosy. His statement about Rangers needing to get out of the Scottish game is a warning to the Rangers support to wise up. The enemies of the club have not gone away. They have regrouped and will come back at Rangers. If this reconstruction and merger of the SPL/SFL goes through, then Rangers will never again be allowed to rise to the top.

This is a desperate attempt to bribe the SFL1 clubs so that the SPL can completly control the TV rights for the Scottish game.
The SFL would be better off voting for a omplete split and seperate TV deal. Should this go through then Rangers should join the Blue Square Premier League!

I completely agree with this article. Doncaster and Regan are Lawwell’s puppets. The aim of these three is to create an Unholy Trinity and control the whole of Scottish football. There are lots of latent fans in England and Wales who would love to see the RANGERS playing down south. I have a season ticket for Brighton and Hove Albion but would love to see my “first love” in action. It wouldn’t be too long before they were promoted through the leagues. I reckon the Championship within 6 years, and that is a conservative estimate!!! Then the Promised Land is only one promotion away!!! As for the bhoys commenting on here I would say … go support your own team and stop slagging off the fourth best supported club in the UK

The only reason for the rush for a single body is because the SPL and its members ARE facing an oncoming Juggernaut, only its not called Rangers it’s called ARMAGEDDON and its coming to an SPL ground near you soon!
The underselling of the SFL TV rights for this season may reduce it’s affect but thats only temporary! Just as Celtic’s participation in the CL group stages are!
The reconstruction scheduled for the end of the season is for one reason and one reason only, to guarantee that the SKY deal (dependant upon Rangers FC) is held firmly in the grasp of the SPL.
If Celtic were confident of CL group stage participation they wouldn’t care how many SPL teams went to the wall, nor how much the TV deal dropped for the SPL as a whole. They are still living off our backs and still trying to delude, deflect and deny.
Hence the Sectarian card played by so many who simply hate Rangers more than they will ever love celtic. You want proof check the attendances and the video’s of their games, empty seats dont lie.

Sorry Geo you miss-understood me, I was responding to his attempt at calling the Rangers support sectarian.
I entirely agree that the SPL are trying any thing that they can to try and hold onto the TV money for the benefit of the SPLs governing body and not even the clubs within it’s umbrella. The SPL et al are more than likely doomed unless they can hold onto the TV monies that rightfully should be paid to Rangers and the third division teams that they are playing.
Shelftics participation in the cl is based on the SPL being competitive and without Rangers this is unlikely to be the case and participation in the topflight will not be tolerated for long and Europa league is probably the best that a Scottish team can hope for.
When we ask for our voice to be heard they quite correctly point out that as we are only associate members of the SFL we don’t get to be heard, but TBH this is a bit of an unusual situation, where an associate member brings more than 50% of the seat sales and TV audience.
I agree that his attempts to deflect the debate were pitiful to say the least. First it was sectarianism now its tribalism even read one post where they said they hated us because of our triumpantism (in other words they hate us because we are winners!)

After all they still cant accept that
1. Sponsorship goes where the crowds are.
2. HMRC decreed that almost all payments were legal and so no contest.
3. Those payments which weren’t deemed as loans are covered by the Juninho ruling.
4. LNS ruled expulsion from the league was NOT an option. Only the transfer embargo was!
5. Their little cabal of power doesnt have any power, because power comes from cash which they dont have.
6. Celtic cant win a league if all the other teams are broke and in administration or worse.
7. Hearts did a deal for pennies in the pound with HMRC and had an insolvency event, which they came out of via that deal with HMRC!
8. We are still the main show in town no matter whether it’s the 3rd div or the SPhell or the CL. Even if we go to the Blue Square we would still be the main show in town! Right up to the time we meet Man Utd, Barca(with a full hoose) or some other European great, we will always be bigger and better than all the rest!
The debate rages on and rumbles ever louder, but the sound of ‘distant drums’ are getting ever nearer. These drums are from the stands at Ibrox, on any given Saturday, and the tune they are starting to play is…I want to break free….hehe.
For too long now we have taken everything they have thrown at us due to being weak and injured, now we are on the mend and the beast is starting to roar back….the powers that be are getting worried, wounded animals are 100 times more deadly when they have scores to settle….and there are some really big scores to even up here.
The one thing Charles Green should do….is, as an associate member of the league, with no say in any decision making… make a decision for Rangers and only Rangers that will hurt them so much. That decision revolves around Rangers Media rights….and who can or can not watch live games. To survive and to pander to the evil’s wicked demands we had to forego our own TV rights for this season….a mistake perhaps but it has bought us time to regain our position of strength.
We should now look at marketing our own deal….not in any way affiliated to the SPHell….let them then go forth and find a TV company this side of the dark side of the moon, willing to pay them sufficiently to watch the boring drivel that passes as Top Flight Football in Scotland.
Not sure exactly what the options would be open to us to look at securing this, but we are condemned to death by the ‘devils advocates’ if we do not do something pretty radical….and pretty damn soon
