Since the dawn of Michu in Wales many would have been forgiven for forgetting Danny Graham and simply glancing at the news story about his move to a top or mid-table Championship club. But, 3 decisive goals in 3 games has forced Danny Graham back into the hearts and heads of Swansea fans and the manager Michael Laudrup. The ex-Dane superstar has come out stating that he does not want to sell him but that won’t stop the sharks of the Premiership from circling the Swans.

It is  surprising that Laudrup hasn’t played Michu in his favoured position just behind the striker and therefore give both Michu and Graham a chance to form a wonderful partnership. It seems that Laudrup is happy to rotate but it is unsure whether or not Graham will be happy playing second fiddle to the languid and lethal Michu, who will no doubt be top of the bill considering his goal-tally thus far.

With this in mind Reading and Sunderland are rumoured to be interested as well as many others at the bottom of the Premiership and with Grant Holt injured for Norwich, QPR and Wigan in need of a goal scorer, the demand for Graham could be higher than the demand for the Power Rangers action figure back in the day, one for the 90’s kids.

Danny Graham had a slow start to life in the Premier League and many scoffed at the purchase of him as he didn’t fit into the almost stone age model of either ‘small and pacey’, or ‘strong and physical’, that many past it pundits still believe are important to the modern game.

With 14 goals and 4 assists in all competitions last season he was one of many Swansea players to shine and even scored the winner against Liverpool on the last day of the season at the Liberty stadium.

His finishing maybe a bit one footed, 10 of last seasons goals scored with his right foot and all 3 so far in the league this season, but he is an excellent finisher with an instinct for goal, as he showed against Arsenal in the FA cup last weekend. This skill would be as welcome at Sunderland, Wigan, Norwich, QPR or Reading as David Cameron and George Osbourne being killed in a freak yachting accident that was televised for all to see.

Right now Graham seems to be enjoying his football and both him and Laudrup would want him to stay at Swansea but without more first team football Graham may well be tempted to join ranks at a team willing to offer him consistent playing time.

In what seems to be one of the most boring transfer windows ever so far, this transfer could transform another team’s year.
