Arsenal target would ‘love’ Emirates move – time for Wenger to snap him up?

|

Mohamed DiameTwo wins on the trot may have Arsenal fans believing again, but even the most optimistic Gunners fan must surely realize that Wenger needs to bolster this squad.

Whilst the performance against West Ham stood out in particular (a 5-1 rout, including 4 goals in one incredible 10 minute period), Arsenal’s 3-2 win against Brighton was less than convincing.

It was yet another showcase for Arsenal’s lack of strength in depth. Likewise, earlier games against the likes of Bradford City, Norwich City and Swansea City this season, have shown that this Arsenal side still has a long way to go.

I’m surprised that Arsene isn’t more keen to add to his squad. He’s seen the way that the likes of Santi Cazorla, Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski have come in and provided Arsenal with goals, assists and further strength in depth.

With the squad full of players who no longer look like they have a future at the club (Andre Santos anyone?) surely the time is right to ship them out and replace them with quality?

Arsenal have been regularly linked to West Ham’s dynamic midfielder, Mohamed Diame, throughout the January transfer window. Though he’s not the marquee singing that many fans would like to see, he’s certainly good enough to improve Arsenal’s midfield and add another dimension to the Gunner’s game.

In other words, he’s tough, he’s physical and he’s not afraid to impose himself. These are all characteristics that are sorely lacking from the likes of Santi, Jack Wilshere and Mikel Arteta.

According to The Mirror, Diame has ‘told pals’ that he would ‘love’ to join Arsenal before the transfer window slams shut. The paper also claims that he has been fined a week’s wages for turning up late to a team-building meeting. The meet was scheduled for 7am last Thursday, where the players were set to be subjected to a re-run of the Hammer’s dire 5-1 defeat to Arsenal.

His attitude seems to have some pundits suggesting his mind is elsewhere and that his main concern now is a move to the Emirates.

To snap him up, Arsenal would only have to trigger Diame’s £3.5m release clause – a bargain for a player of his quality.

January is a notoriously bad month for signing good players at a good price. But with Diame’s situation being as it is, I’d say Arsene Wenger would be right to take a punt.

What’s your take? Should Arsenal snap up Mohamed Diame?

If the gunners don’t get the 4th slot because Wenger failed to beef up the squad, surely he shd not be given a 2nd chance. He has been given chances galore and has failed up to now to get the gunners going.
At any other club he would surely have been fired four years ago.

Wenger should not always be reluctant to signing players that’ll help bolster the arsenal team. A player of Diame’s calibre, at just £3.5m is every team’s wish. Wenger should not be so stingy please. You want cheap players, here is one ” Mr Wenger!”

Ticket prices have been frozen for next season and our gk says the squad is as good as anyother team. Well beat Liverpool for starters and finish in the top 4. Then and only then will the believe.
If the gunners fail to get the 4th spot because Wenger doesn’t strengthen the team ,then he shd go. I believe Arsenal shd get a new man because if the fm continues he will drag Arsenal further down.Don’t think the gunners will maintain their place as the 5th richest club if they don’t win any thing. In fact the gap with the top teams will widen until it becomes a chasm.
