The managerial rumour-mill: Have the likes of Guardiola & Mourinho become football’s most wanted?

|

There is also Chelsea as an option, the fan’s favourite, Mourinho would surely be welcomed back with open arms, but I’m not sure Abramovich will swallow his pride on this one. Nonetheless, there is still a chance he may return to the bridge. In the event that Fergie doesn’t step down, I think Man City might just win the race for Mourinho.

Arsene Wenger is having an awful season and if this continues and Arsenal fail to qualify for the Champion’s league, I cannot see how he will manage to keep his position at the club. The Gunners have 11 wins in 23 games and have registered the worst ever start under Wenger and also for 30 years. The 3 that are favourites to take over this job are Guardiola, Klopp and Garde.

Roberto Mancini really seems unsettled and very unhappy this year, Manchester City were the first English club to be knocked out of the Champion’s league, after winning none of their games. This is bad for a team that have had nearly £400mil worth of investment. He has also been very volatile, arguing with officials, fans, and journalists. There were also the rumours that he has had talks with Monaco, which adds more fuel to the rumour that he is leaving. Man City will be wanting a top manager so they will definitely be going for the likes of Guardiola or Mourinho.

Chelsea’s managerial situation has been one of the worst and most laughable jokes in the history of the Premier League. They had a Champion’s League and F.A cup winning ex-player as manager who then got sacked for not winning in 8 games. Roman then appoints Rafa Benitez until the end of the season, annoying every Chelsea fan in the process. Who knows who will be the next manager at Chelsea? I think whoever they employ will be a brave person to take on a job of that uncertainty. Maybe Roman would be better off hiring a coach and making all the management decisions himself.

PSG are rumoured to be sacking Carlo Ancelotti at the end of their season. After a huge investment and buying some of the best names in history; PSG aren’t really living up to the standard of football that is now expected of them. Ancelotti is a great manager but I fear he has taken on too much with PSG. They are expecting the same kind of results that Chelsea are. Nothing, but the quadruple is enough for PSG and I don’t think they will achieve it this season. They will probably battle it out between other clubs for Guardiola or Mourinho, although they are also very interested in hiring Arsene Wenger too.

So with Guardiola and Mourinho at the top of every club’s wishlist where will these two managers end up? It’s certain that this summer will be an exciting one in managerial changes and I really think we will see a fighting it out situation from all clubs for these two guys. How cool must it be to be a manager of that quality?
