Valencia is steeped in rich Spanish football history and has been associated with many successes on the pitch in the past. Recently the club have been going through a tough financial period.

In some ways this has clouded the good work that has gone on behind the scenes. This week Sky Sport’s La Liga review show included a video about Valencia’s coaches touring the UK and sharing their football philosophies.

At this moment in time Spain is one of the most dominant forces in International football. Total football is becoming more and more popular in the UK with teams outside of the Premier League trying to pass their way around the pitch instead of it punt the ball up to the strikers.

At grass roots level this style of football is what young aspiring footballers need to learn to play.

The beautiful game is about team work and keeping the ball on the floor which allows each individual to have an impact on the game. By importing the sport to other countries Britain has been able to benefit from the magnificent export of European and South American football. It is noticeable now, more than ever, that young British players are more continental in the way they conduct their selves on the pitch.

Not only do projects like this help youngsters improve, they also give youth coaches in the UK ideas and techniques that can improve the quality of their teams. The only thing that is bad about this style of play is diving.

Honesty is important in football and something that should be taught to youngsters along the British Isles coupled with the European’s philosophies.

Developments behind the scenes in both professional youth football and amateur leagues could see a very different England team in regards to tactics and quality of play in years to come. Fingers crossed the future national side can emulate the Spaniards success.

What’s your take? Just how important will the contintental effect’ be on the future of the National team? Can England go on to match the success of Spain, or will they be forever in their shadow?
