Could moving to Liverpool save this ace attacker’s career?

Out of favour at Chelsea, Daniel Sturridge is constantly being  linked with a move to Liverpool in the January transfer window.  The Englishman who regularly features in Roy Hodgson’s national team will need regular football in order to keep his place, so could a move north be the answer?

The striker who moved to the Bridge in 2009 has struggled to feature in the starting 11 this season and with the arrival of Rafa Benitez, he will be looking for a move away. Benitez who brought Fernando Torres to England when he was manager at Liverpool has been reunited with his frontman and will be his first choice for certain.  Along with the possible arrival of Radamel Falcao, Sturridge will certainly be further down the pecking order than he would like.

Sturridge, 23 has made only nine appearances this season scoring on two occasions.  Despite starting well last season he didn’t feature as much as hoped and managed 13 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions. So there is a case to argue that if he started on regular basis he could provide a team with a lot of goals.

With Liverpool solely relying on Luis Suarez up front, due to Carroll’s loan to West Ham and injuries to Fabio Borrini, they should be looking at signing another striker. Manager, Brendan Rodgers is certainly looking for another attacking midfielder/striker after missing out on Clint Dempsey on the last deadline day. Suarez who has scored 13 goals in 21 games this season needs another man up front in order to take the pressure off him

You can see Sturridge fitting in well with Suarez, the Uruguayan creates a lot of chance for the Merseysiders but at the moment fails to find anyone in an attacking position to finish them off. Although he scores goals for the Reds, and is joint top goalscorer in the Premier League (10) Suarez isn’t known for his good finishing ability whereas Sturridge is known for being quite a selfish player and will take any shot on, and on occasions it comes off for him.  So considering that, they could work well together and be a good partnership. It has been reported that Sturridge personally prefers playing as a striker however last season ex-Chelsea manager Andre Villas Boas played him wide where he scored 10 goals.

Sturridge needs the move and Liverpool want the player but will his wage demands be too high for Brendan Rodgers?  Without suspended Suarez this Sunday, it looks like he will be forced to name Jonjo Shelvey up front. Rodgers cannot deny that he needs to buy a new striker in January and if they can convince Sturridge to lower his demands I’m sure Benitez/ Abramhovich  will let him go.

Sturridge is a turkey. Liverpool need a central striker to re-inforce, but Sturridge certainly is not good enough.

It has been a little more than 2 years and this guy has been loaned out , taken back , played then talked about. Nothing has ever come of it so doesn’t that tell something???
He is not the player that is hyped time after time so he is best at Chelsea where ha can collect £80K+ a week. He is definitely NOT in that wage bracket for me..

I’d rather lpool wait till summer and not get ripped off again ( like every other transfer window ) sturridge isn’t worth £50,000 a week let alone £80,000 ? As for Walcott,I wouldn’t touch him with a barge pole ? Rodgers hasn’t a clue in the transfer window, and his scouts have proved it by getting us Borini for £12 million & Allen for £15 million ??? When are we as fans gonna speak up and say ” enough is enough ” Yanks OUT ASAP please, there in it for the money ? And never gonna make us a force again…

First of all there are not an endless supply of oil barons out there willing to throw away 100s of millions of dollars on a football team, so the club needs to generate its own income.
I am very happy that BR is in charge of transfers and not you. Walcott is Arsenals leading scorer with 10- as many as Suarez, and Sturridge is no slouch- still young and hungry so I don’t think its fair to bad mouth him.
So i would say, enough is enough, morons stop getting your knickers in a twist ASAP

Daniel Sturridge will save his carrier but LFC will not save position ranking. He not proven that he realy natural goal scorer yet at chelsea.Wlifred zaha,Theo Wallcott only want high salary but cannot give biggest contribution for their clubs. This the fact.Edison Cavani is very ggod partner is we are realy seriouly to win the tittle.Sometimes when making counter attacker nobody behind or betwen suarez. He got lonely and cannot do anything.

  • Rigo22 says:

We’ll take him if they give him to us, plus 20Mill on top.
