Robin Van Persie, Alex Song and Theo Walcott: Arsenal’s three most productive players last season. One-by-one, they seem to be on their way out of the club this season. RVP went first, looking to see if the grass truly is greener on the other side. Alex Song followed, looking to join up with Cesc Fabregas in Barcelona.

Theo Walcott, on the other hand, is still an Arsenal player. He’s still under contract with the Gunners and still has a part to play this year. The truth is, however, it’s starting to look like his future lies elsewhere.

Arsene Wenger has clearly made a conscious decision to limit his game time this season. He’s yet to start a game and only got two minutes against French side Montpeller, a club that offered the Gunners an opportunity for rotation.

The trouble for Arsenal fans, is that the whole affair doesn’t seem to add up. Whilst Arsene Wenger was willing to let go of the world’s best striker, because he only had a year left on his contract, Theo Walcott was allowed to stay. He was in a similar position to RVP, contractually and had shown little intent of agreeing new terms. Yet it was he, rather than the Dutchman that would stay at the club.

We were told that Theo loved the club and that he’d sign a new contract. If that is the case, why isn’t Arsene Wenger playing him?

I realize that he’s inconsistent. I realize he has a lot to prove. But there’s no doubting he’s effective. He always pops up with assists and there’s no scarier sight for a full-back in the Premier League that Theo Walcott running at you at full speed.

Yes, the fans love the Ox, but whilst he’s an impressively direct player, he doesn’t offer much in the way of end product at this moment. That will come, but for now, Theo Walcott may be able to offer more input into Arsenal’s fortunes. The Ox also has great potential as an impact player.

As such, it’s imperative that Arsenal sort out his contract situation. Surely it’s time that Theo decided one way or another. Theo can’t be satisfied with his situation and neither can the club. Why wait any longer?

What’s your take? Does Theo Walcott have a future with Arsenal?
