Why Arsenal shouldn’t forget about Nuri Sahin:

Much to fan’s relief, Arsenal have got their transfers completed nice and early this summer. Arsene Wenger has brought in FC Koln’s Lukas Podolski, Ligue 1’s top-scorer Olivier Giroud and Spanish International Santi Cazorla. All quality players who have the potential to impact on the first team. So is that the Gunner’s work in the transfer market all done and dusted?

Much will depend, I think on the future of contract rebels like Robin Van Persie and Theo Walcott and whether Alex Song finds himself tempted by Barcelona’s interest (The Evening Standard are reporting that Song has agreed terms with Barca, but that seems a little premature). With three player’s futures up in the air, Arsene Wenger may well be forced back into the transfer market.

Which may allow Arsenal to turn their attention back to Real Madrid outcast Nuri Sahin. Whilst many spent the last two-three weeks drooling over the potential signing of Cazorla, the Nuri Sahin deal was the one that I really wanted to see pushed through.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited about the arrival of Cazorla, but I think that Nuri Sahin has the potential to go on and be one of the world’s best midfielders.

After a barnstorming season at Borussia Dortmund, the Turkish International was snapped up by Real Madrid, who have done the best job possible to attempt to derail his professional development. His lack of game time at the Bernabeu has led to him seeking loan opportunities, so that he can get regular football without losing his long-term prospects at Madrid.

Arsenal’s interest in the talented Turk seems to have waned, but should Alex Song move on this summer, I hope they get back involved. He wouldn’t be a like-for-like swap, but he would improve the midfield significantly.

He’s capable of anchoring the midfield, loves to snap into challenge and always looks to win the ball back. His real strength, however, is going forward. He’s got a remarkable range of passing, great feet and lovely technique. He’s a crafty, creative type – the likes of which Arsenal have been lacking since Cesc Fabregas left.

Whilst Yann M’Vila would be a more sensible solution, Sahin is the more exciting prospect. So that’s who I hope Arsene goes for.

What’s your take? Would Nuri Sahin be a good replacement for Alex Song?

Would like to see Sahin come as well. But I think he is more of a luxuary signing. Song still has 3 years left on his contract and has publicy stated that he is happy at Arsenal, so I don’t think he will leave. If we sign him it would be great but we already have a lot of creative midfielders. Think we still need a replacement for RVP and a possibly a defender as well.

Why not if he’s cracket up to be everything that people write about him we should go for it, but I would prefer a permanent deal rather than a season loan, because with our injury prone team hopefully he can fill in where needed, because I doubt very much whether Diaby will actually complete a full season let alone more than two games or part of a game before being injured yet again. Wilshere is still out and although he’s due back in October, who knows plus Rosicky is also out injured, so we need extra cover.

“SONG IS GOING NO WHERE” Who told you that? This club is ready to sell any of their players if the price is good. I have come into conclusion that Arsenal is in business to make profit. Was it about two days ago that Wenger was being quoted that RVP goes nowhere? What is the news today? Wenger in serious talk with Ferguson over van persie. I wont be surprised if in the next 48 hours Song too is heading to Barcelona. Imagine a club that is continually selling their best players to their rival7
