Why Arsenal have to active his €35m buy-out clause:

Whilst clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United continue to sign ‘special’ talent like Eden Hazard and Robin Van Persie, Arsenal only seem capable of letting their best people go. Whilst I’d argue that the Gunner’s squad is built out of good players, who like to play attacking football, they lack a special player, a game changer, like Robin Van Persie. I’d argue that the only fit player at Arsenal who strays into this territory is Andrey Arshavin. He’s the one player who looks capable of creating a moment of magic, but he’s looked way off his game for the last couple of seasons.

If Arsenal are to win silverware this season, they’ll need a player with this kind of quality. But just who can Arsenal bring in to provide them with these magic moments?

How about Jesus Navas, who the Daily Star claims that Arsenal are targeting to replace Theo Walcott (who has a year left on his contract and doesn’t look like signing a new one)?

They’ve run a story that claims Arsenal’s latest Spanish recruit Santi Cazorla has persuaded Arsene Wenger to direct his interest towards his compatriot Navas. It’s also claimed that the 26-year-old ace has a €35m buy-out clause.

That’s a big sum, but the Gunners are unlikely to be able to persuade Sevilla to sell him for much less. That’s despite the Star’s claims that they ‘are likely to accept a bid around half that amount’. Not sure how they’re able to substantiate that claim, but nonetheless…

There’s also very little evidence to suggest he’d be willing to make a move. He’s a one club man who has played 350 games for Sevilla. Of course, there’s always the chance that he’s ready to something new.

One thing’s for sure: Arsenal would benefit from Navas’ pace, direct attacking and willingness to take on defenders. He’s like Gervinho, but with more end product (he picked up 14 last seasons) and he’s a part of the Spanish international set-up arguably one of the best sides of all time.

At the moment, he’d make for a very unlikely Arsenal signing. But what an addition he would be.

What’s your take? Would you take Jesus Navas at the Emirates?

    you cunt lol

  • Jules says:

If Cazorla doesn’t count as special then you’re an idiot. + by special Wenger means a player with qualities we lack and he specificaly hinted his looking for someone “defencive”

  • JonnyH says:

He’s too similar to Walcott, very quick but lightweight. He’s got a better all round game, but then he’s got 3 years on Walcott. Can’t see that shipping out Walcott and bringing in Navas will improve us that much at all. It’d be in opinion like swapping Fabregas for Cazorla (oh yeah we’ve done that). If Walcott doesn’t sign then he’d be a good replacement, but just don’t see that Navas is the ‘Special talent’ we need to take us to the next level and especially not for the sums Sevilla are talking.

The one special player Arsharvin are you mad or was that a joke? wilshire cazorla arteta all miles better

  • GoonerEris says:

Fancy suggesting Arshavin is our only ‘game changer’ type of player. Very poor attempt at ridiculing a very talented Arsenal side, where Arshavin struggles to get into the side. The season has only just started and still a long way to go yet.

    Harry,

Oh Harry. SO you feel (‘think’ would clearly be inaccurate!) that only Navas/Arshavin can ‘elevate’ our squad to the levels of Chelski and ManUre?

Cazorla, Podolski, Giroud, the Ox, Walcott, Gervinho, Diaby, Wilshere and Rosicky are proven and will show why we are not simply looking to ‘catch up’. If it were not so close to Sunday I would be tempted to use an expletive to summarise you and your argument.

Silly, but not quite the season!!

  • Dax says:

For that kind of money they could get Llorente

  • Adewale says:

We need replacement for song let’s go on m’villa

  • Destr0 says:

I second Dax…also, why spend that money on someone with known homesickness issues? And Theo is in negotiations, as confirmed by Wenger, so why jump the gun there. There are many players that would be worth going after with that money.

if arsenal sign messi tomorrow he`ll suddenly become an average player, chicharito was the best thing since slice bread because man u signed him.arteta when in everton was one of the EPL bests and AFC sign him he all the sudden at the end of his playing career. peace of advice to all the fellow gunners stop listening to the likes of bbc and talksport

  • Please Mr wenger we they fans of this lovely club arsenal need more players to help us reinforce the squad just like chelsea had done. Some fans can no longer wait to see trophies. At least lets put our critics to shame by replacing song sale with cheick tiote and possibly M’villa and one strong defender. I believe with all these additions we shall overtake the front runners on the league table and even carry the league this season. Thanks i rest my case

  • Fan base of arsenal in Nigeria is shutting down

    • Solomon says:

I hate the way wenger approach transfers, he is not a serious manager, he make fans feel happy before transfers approaches, when it is do for real business he makes fans unhappy. Chelsea boss told bacerlona that they are not fools like arsenal in transfers. Good comment.

  • DocBrody says:

    Arshavin?
Spend over 35 million and run afoul of FFP? Trust me, if UEFA will enforce FFP on anyone, it will be Arsenal. Chelsea, Man City, Barca, and ManU will all be allowed to use loop holes. But the rules will be enforced against Arsenal to the fullest extent possible.

Anyway is this whole article a joke? (well its clearly a joke, just wondering if it was an intentional one)

  • eriss says:

And unfortunately, some so-called Arsenal fans have giving in to chip analysis such as this! And thanks to u MIDS, I agree totally with you, but very unfortunate to you Harry. If you don’t see any quality and class in Cazorla, Podolski, Giroud, arteta. Wilshere, Vamalene, kosh, Gervinho, Walcort, Rosicky et al then u must be a Moron. Shingi Kagawa is considered a great because he signed for Manu, but Carzor is not good because he is foe Arsenal. You are totally out of your mind!

  • We (Arsenal) need a proven premiership goal scorer Dempsey springs to mind
