Where should Nuri Sahin lay his hat: Arsenal or Manchester United?

There’s been an almost endless supply of rumours concerning Arsenal and Real Madrid’s midfield wonder Nuri Sahin. It was beginning to look like more and more of a done deal. So it’s a little surprising to have seen The Metro suggest that Manchester United were looking to sweep in at the last moment and complete a move for Sahin ahead of Arsenal.

Just like Arsene Wenger, Sir Alex Ferguson is believed to be on the lookout for a quality midfielder. Both sides are looking for a player who can provide the creative engine in their respective midfields. Arsenal are trying to replace Cesc Fabregas (who they forgot to adequately replace last summer) and Manchester United are trying to line up a replacement for Paul Scholes before the Ginger Prince wanders off into the sunshine for good.

I’m not surprised both clubs have had their heads turned given Sahin’s quality. His situation at Real Madrid practically calls out ‘come get me’. Despite his ability, the Turkish International has struggled to make a genuine impact at the Bernabeau, where he’s at the bottom of a totem pole of incredible talent.

He made just ten appearances for Real Madrid last season. Contrast that to the 40 he made for Borussia Dortmund the year before and you’ve got a footballer who must be itching for game time.

As a result, Jose Mourinho has told the Press that he won’t stand in the way of Sahin leaving the club in order to find regular football. So where should he end up: at the Emirates or Old Trafford?

The Metro claims that Arsenal are looking to secure a season-long loan deal for the 23-year-old, whilst Manchester United are looking for tie  him down on a permanent basis. They also say that Sahin is ‘excited’ by Manchester United’s interest.

I think he’d be a perfect fit at Manchester United. Sahin’s a great all-rounder. He loves to snap into tackles and fight for the ball. But his real quality lies in his ability to spray the ball about and launch attacks at will. He has fantastic technique, always seems to find himself with time and space on the ball and he makes good decisions at the right times.

He’d fit in nicely alongside Shinji Kagawa (also an ex-BVB star) and might spur the likes of Anderson onto greater things. Because of his situation at Real Madrid he wouldn’t cost a fortune, but he does have the potential to be moulded into one of the world’s greatest midfielders. And with Sir Alex Ferguson overseeing his development, who’d bet against it?

What’s your take? Would Sahin fit in better at Arsenal or Manchester United?

Hopefully he signes with arsenal. He will fit in very well with new signings and really add to their attacking threat. Come on arsenal sort it out and sign him before united.

I prefer him in arsenal cos of the kind of football he plays. His very skillful and strong and it he will do well with likes of ateta and song. And will be given room to play as a first team player but in manu except scholes leaves he cant be assured first team Jersey.

  • Gabriel Timileyin says:

You guys may suggest Man United for him, but I think he’ll do better at Arsenal. Fergusson might not have that patience for him but he’ll definitely get with Arsene Wenger. but I guess the worse is yet to come for him if he still remain at Madrid.
