The Euro’s were very exciting for me, I was supporting the Three Lions as well as the La Roja’s, although there was a huge disappointment when Stevie G’s men were not able to go through to the semis, I thought he along with Glen Johnson were very consistent and very important.

Spain showed us that they can be very dominant even without a striker in their line-up and were able to demolish the Republic of Ireland, as well as Italy in the finals, not to forget their game against France where Liverpool hero Xabi Alonso scored 2. So all in all it shows that Spain will be arguably the most dominant team in football for quite some time.

Now that we are done and dusted with the Euro’s, it’s time for the most exciting part of the pre-season, the summer transfer window. Rumors have been pouring out of news papers about medicals, bidding wars and heavy wage demands. With that in mind, it’s worth rating the players in the squad and assessing whether they’re up to snuff.

Pepe Reina: 6/10

He did not feature in a single game during the Euro’s and had by far the worst season of his career at Liverpool. His red card against Newcastle was the talking point and which led to him missing out 3 games. He conceded poor goals against Aguero (Barclays Premier League fixture at the Etihad), Ramires (FA cup final) and not to mention Van Persie (Barclays premier league fixture at Anfield)

Jose Enrique: 7.5/10

He had an absolute flyer at the start of the season and if this was based on the start of the season I would have given him an 8.5 rating. It could have been fatigue which led to a dip in form for Enrique, but all I can say is, it is because of the defense Liverpool didn’t go below the 8^th position.

Glen Johnson: 8/10

Came back strongly after the injury, was very consistent during the full season, had only one slip during the West Brom game, which lead to the winning goal. But he did win us the game at Stamford Bridge, with the late winner. He was also consistent during the Euro’s, improving game by game. I look forward to his performances next season.

Daniel Agger: 8.5/10

Absolutely brilliant during the course of the season! He did have an injury though which had him out of action for a couple of months but he returned strongly and also put up an excellent display at the Euro’s keeping the likes of Van Persie and Ronaldo at bay.

Martin Skrtel: 8.5/10

Excellent season for him got him the Liverpool player of the year award. His critical goal line clearances, strong defending and a solid partnership with Agger held of threats from the opposition. His goals were also critical for Liverpool in many occasions (Carling cup final is one example).

Stewart Downing: 6/10

Not much can be said except ‘Disappointing’ did not score a goal in the premier league but notched 2 goals in the full season with no assists either.

Jordan Henderson: 6/10

Scored two goals in the premier league, is talented no doubt but was poor during his first season.

Charlie Adam: 6/10

The same for Adam, he along with Downing, Henderson were absolutely poor, they did not justify their price tags and did not justify their inclusion in the starting 11. He was kept out for the rest of the season due to injury but ended it with two goals.
