With just under a month till the new Barclays Premier League season kicks off; fans, managers and players alike will be wanting the best for their clubs. The two Manchester clubs will pit themselves against each other once again after last year’s sensational final day finish. And questions will be answered. Questions like; Who will make up the Top 4? How will Tottenham do following the departure of Harry Redknapp? By the time the season starts, will Robin Van Persie still be in England let alone be an Arsenal player?

Already, in the middle of pre-season if I could describe the upcoming season in a word it would be redemption. Managers like Andre Villas-Boas and Arsene Wenger will be seeking redemption, as will players like Fernando Torres and should he stay Van Persie. So who needs to have a good year? There are players and managers who equally need to have a good season to show us, the footballing world, what they are capable of in the best league in the world. Over the next few weeks as fans everywhere count down to the new season I will be looking at people who need a good season otherwise it could be curtains for them.

First up is a man who has been in the Premier League since 2007, he has won multiple trophies in his time playing for one of the most illustrious clubs in the world, but for whatever reason we are still yet to see the best from Manchester United and Brazil midfielder Anderson. Despite winning 3 Premier League medals along with a Champions League and World Club Championship medal, many still believe there is more to come from the 24 year old. Manchester United signed Anderson in May 2007 after scouting him for many years, the club’s scouting staff know the potential of this young man.

It is rumoured that before he suffered a bad leg break just prior to joining United, Anderson was quicker than Arsenal winger Theo Walcott when on the ball. However, the leg break caused Anderson to miss long periods of the 2006/07 season, in which time he put on some timber and became a different kind of player. Since then he has had a torrid time with injuries during his Old Trafford career, injuries that are all now behind him, he is looking sharp in training and looks set to throw his name in the hat as long term replacements for Paul Scholes. Not only that he has no longer got his famous dreadlocks, meaning Anderson means business this season.

I think with the departure of Drogba, Torres now has the main striker role and i think he’ll have a great season. Possibly golden boot contender?
