Juventus are looking to bring back the glory days to Turin. The club are in search of their 28th Italian league title, and are edging ever closer as they stretched their unbeaten league run to 35 games this season.

The bianconeri have endured some tough times over the past few years, including the ‘Calciopoli scandal’ in 2006, which saw them named as one of five clubs involved with match fixing. The result of this saw Juventus stripped of their two league titles they won in 2005 and 2006 as well as being relegated to Seria B for the first time in the club’s history. The club then found themselves struggling to hold onto their star players, with the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Lillian Thuram and Fabio Cannavaro all leaving.

The club subsequently won promotion straight back to Serie A but since then the club have not lifted a trophy, and if you go further back, then it’s not since the 2003/2004 Coppa Italia that a trophy has been in their grasp.

For a club as big as Juventus, the most successful Italian team in league history, resurgence has been on the cards, and following their 4-0 win over Novara on Sunday, it looks like the league title will be heading back to Turin. Juventus have found the winning mentality that eluded them for so many years, even at the start of the season they were struggling to put teams to bed. However Antonio Conte’s side  have scored 23 times in their last eight, compare that to just 39 in their first 27 games. Add in a water-tight defence, one goal conceded in their last eight and 18 in all league games, Juve really have the bit between their teeth and mean business.

If they do claim the league title, they will hope to attract some world class players, who have been missing in Turin since the glory days of the late 1990s and early 2000s where players like Zinedine Zidane, Fillipo Inzaghi, David Trezeguet and Paval Nedved all gracing the famous bianconeri strip.

This rise in Juventus’ form should be welcomed by the neutral fan, since Juventus last one an Italian league title only AC Milan or Inter Milan have been crowned champions. And as a club with two golden stars on their shirt to represent over 20 league titles, (a gold star is rewarded for 10 league titles or more) then you feel it is only right for a team as big as Juventus to be back where they belong.
