QPR, Blackburn, Wigan, Wolves: Which relegation threatened club would bounce back quickest?

|

As we enter the last two 4 or 5 weeks of the season, it looks like Wolves are already relegated and two from Blackburn, Wigan, QPR or Bolton to join them

Three clubs will feel aggrieved to go down but will all the players? Below are a few players that might survive the drop even if their teams don’t.

Wolves goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey could be a target for the promoted teams while Stephen Hunt, Kevin Doyle, Matt Jarvis and Steven Fletcher could feature for any team in the bottom half of the table. Michael Kightly and George Elokobi could also be saved the drop if someone takes a gamble on them.

Blackburn’s biggest test if they go down will be keeping their biggest names. Paul Robinson isn’t a Championship keeper and Yakubu is sure to be snapped up by someone as he guarantees goals. The right manager will work wonders with Morten Gamst Pederson and Junior Hoillett has impressed many this season. The Olsson twins, Grant Hanley and N’zonzi could also be picked up as Blackburn look to stabilise. Scott Dann and David Dunn may also move in the summer.

Wigan owe the fact they are still in with a chance of survival in large amounts to keeper Al Habsi. Other players that could be poached are Hugo Rodallega, Victor Moses, Diame, Beasujour, Di Santo, Shaun Maloney and Figueroa.

Should Bolton go down then both Jaaskelainen and Bogdan could leave for new challenges. Experienced striker Kevin Davies may have a few seasons to offer someone while Ivan Klasnic, Chris Eagles and Martin Petrov could all also be picked up. Also the recovery of Fabrice Muamba will be monitored by many. Can he ever get to that level again?

QPR have the finance to theoretically bounce straight back. Keeping hold of their stars to stay at Championship level won’t be easy. Anton Ferdinand, Abel Taarabt, Bobby Zamora, Jamie Mackie, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Cisse, Diakite, Buzsaky and maybe even Joey Barton all have qualities that could see them remain Premier League players.
