Why Rhodes Should Head to the Championship over the Premier League

|

Huddersfield Town sit just 5 points off the automatic slots with a game in hand but they must fear if they do not get promoted this season they will say goodbye to prized asset Jordan Rhodes.

The in-form striker has found the net 31 times in as many games in League One this season and is being tracked by a whole host of clubs including some from the Premier League.

Back in January, Wycombe Wanderers welcomed Huddersfield to Adams Park which was being televised live on SkySports. According to reports there were 8 Premier League scouts at the game and the young scot failed to disappoint. He found the net 5 times as Huddersfield put Wycombe to the sword in a 6 goal thumping. A scout from Tottenham, Aston Villa, Norwich, Newcastle and the striker has even been watched by Liverpool and Manchester United.

One player springs to mind for me though, who? Jermaine Beckford, yes I think Jordan Rhodes has a lot more to offer and is younger but I feel a move to the Premier League would be a poor decision. He would struggle to get into most first teams within the Premier League and comes with a price tag in excess of £4 million.

As he is only 22, I feel a move to a strong Championship side in the summer would be beneficial for his development. He would be playing regular football week in week out and I have no doubts that he would score goals. In a good side and under the right management I could see him being a real threat and securing more caps for Scotland as well. A season or two in the Championship would give him time to develop and when he’s seeing 23/ 24 he would be more than good enough to play in the Premier League.

I hope he doesn’t go for a big money move and thinks about his career, future and carries on firing the goals in the Football League.

You know what’s best for Jordon Rhodes do you Alex?Well thats nice. As a Huddersfield Town Supporter I would like to see Jordon go for the most money possible really and I don’t care whom he goes to. That means the Premier League not the Championship I’m afraid but thanks for your insightful comments and I’m sure the Rhodes family will agree with you whole heartidly. Beckford was always destined to failure has he was a greedy git and could only score one type of goal.
