Why the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United need to steer clear of Eden Hazard [Video]:

All the talent in the world can’t buy class. With the fees that professional footballers are afforded, it’s surely the case that the very least they can do is act respectfully to the club paying your wage. That means putting effort in on the training pitch, doing your best for the team during games and acting as an ambassador wherever possible. That doesn’t mean whoring yourself around Europe’s top clubs and trying to secure a move away from your club through preposterous video campaigns.

Yet that’s exactly what Lille’s Eden Hazard has done. Take a look at the video below. Think about what it implies.

This is a player with no respect for the club he’s currently a part of. This is a player without a specific goal. He’s not moving because there’s a club that he admires who wants to invest in his talent. He’s moving because there’s more money available elsewhere and he’s had his time with Lille.

This in combination with a series of quotes in the Press whereby he claimed he’d love a move to Spurs, before later admitting he fancies a chance with Arsenal and then claiming he admires Manchester United. It’s just shameless. He’s a remarkably talented young footballer so why can’t he do his talking out on the pitch and let the offers roll in the normal way.

I’d argue that Mario Goetze and Christian Eriksen are both more naturally talented than Eden Hazard and have more potential. Yet they don’t feel the need to whore themselves out through the media and issue ‘come get me’ pleas.

There’s just no trusting players like this. If he did make a move to a Premier League club and ended up being a success (and let’s not forget there’s no guarantee that this’ll be the case) who’s to say he won’t agitate for another move as soon as Real Madrid or Barcelona come knocking.

He’s symptomatic of the mercenary attitude that’s currently sweeping through football. For this season, I hope that the Premier League elite stay well clear. In fact, I hope the European elite stay clear and he’s forced to tuck his tail between his legs and stay at Lille. Unfortunately, I doubt this will happen and in all likelihood a big money move is on the way.

What’s your take? Do you still want Hazard at your club?
