Would getting rid of Wenger be a knee jerk reaction or best for the club?

|

Take the start to the season Arsenal had: losing Fabregas and Nasri to Barcelona and Manchester City respectively. With this happening so close to the start of the season even a manager as shroud as Wenger had little time to research thoroughly, top replacements that were right for the team. This all leading to a degree of “panic” buying, for want of a better phrase.

It was not so long ago the team were suffering from a lack of confidence and endured their worst ever start to a Premier League season – horrendous by their very high standards. I recall Wenger’s head was wanted. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and luckily the club did not make any knee jerk reactions as the club are now in fourth position; ahead of Chelsea, Newcastle and Liverpool who all had much better starts than themselves.

I understand the Champions League defeat to AC Milan was embarrassing for the club but in reality they are not the only English club to suffer in that particular competition this season. Both Manchester clubs didn’t make the knockout stages and Chelsea slumped to defeat too, so why are Arsenal fans panicking more than most?

One thing that is certain is the fans turning on the team is not helping the cause, no matter how hard it is to see your team suffer a decline! However in order to pull out of this slump everyone needs to unite together, get behind the manager and most importantly the team!

The argument between Piers Morgan and Frimpong, on Twitter, helped no one and just seemed like a petty spat for the sake of it. Nothing of note came out of it and it solved nothing. Although, Frimpong did have a point when he said that “…in football u have bad and good times the LOYAL fans are the ones that remember the good times and wait for more…” Food for thought don’t you think?

The hierarchy of the club need to give the manager a vote of confidence and give Arsene a budget that will allow him to compete realistically in the transfer market; let him build for next season and if nothing changes then the complaints and the idea that it is time for change may be just!

All that being said, football should take centre stage as the visit of Tottenham on Sunday is probably the most important since it was the decider for fourth spot a couple of years ago. This could be seen as the perfect fixture for Arsenal to turn it around. If the players cannot pull themselves together to play their local rivals then the fans have every right to be angry and demand something be done!

Nevertheless everything Wenger has done for the club has bought him time and what he has achieved at Arsenal should be remembered, admired and never swept under the carpet!

Arsenal 5 Spurs 2. To be honest the most I hope was a 1-1 draw. Two goals down after 30 min I feared the worst. The thing is can the gunners keep up this performance in every game until the end of the season. If they can, third place could not be ruled out or for that matter beating Inter to force extra time.
I still believe once the defence is more organised then the defence will stop conceding goals .
Btw Spurs were due a blip and with some tough games coming up,the gunners could even overturn the seven point gap. To do this the players must believe they can do it.
As for myself I am so happy I can hardly stop jumping up and down. I have to rein myself in or I will have a cardiac arrest. So I am of to the pool for a dip.

Had we lost, you might have been saying somthing different. The unthinkable may still happen; Arsenal behind Spurs in the Premiership. Next up, Liverpool at Anfield. With Chelsea, Newcastle and Man City still to play, we need to consistantly repeat the performances against Spurs and Blackburn.

Have the Venga out brigade got 606 on speed dial,BT must have been
preparing for melt down at half time during the Spurs game, anyway who would replace him he must be in the top 5 managers in Europe and the only thing keeping Arsenal from mid table mediocrity. Please keep Arsene in his job if only for the tortured expressions he pulls on motd
