So here we go: A Luis Suarez article that doesn’t mention Manchester United’s right-back, handshakes or racism – at least outside the confines of this first sentence. For one reason or another, Luis Suarez’s future with Liverpool remains uncertain. Whilst the fans have rallied around him and offered plenty of support, there’s little doubt that he’ll be feeling like a victim and may seek a move away from England to avoid the Press and start afresh. With that in mind, I think Liverpool really ought to start planning for a future without the Uruguayan – it can’t hurt to think ahead can it?

Cash-rich Paris St Germain are said to be interested in the controversial striker and if Liverpool did decide to sell, they would find themselves severely lacking upfront. If Liverpool did sell, they’d pick up a massive fee and this money could be reinvested back into the club.

Whilst Suarez has brought a lot of baggage with him to the club, there’s no doubting his talent and his ability to lift the side. He’s the kind of player that inspires all the usual clichés – he’s a game-winner, he’s capable of forging moments of magic and getting the crowd on his side.

What he isn’t, however, is a great striker. Yes he’s an attacker, or a forward, but there’s a distinction between players like Suarez and players like Andy Carroll. Suarez at Liverpool is creative, can split defences and set people up. Yes he can score, but that’s not the main focus of his game. What Liverpool need more than ever now is a striker whose main focus is on scoring goals, the job Andy Carroll was brought in to do but never quite managed.

Would selling Suarez bring in enough money to bankroll a move for somebody like Edinson Cavani? If not there are plenty of options out there. There’s Gonzalo Higuian who is disappointed at playing second fiddle to Karim Benzema at Real Madrid. Or Lukas Podolski whose contract is running down at Cologne and wouldn’t cost Liverpool an arm and a leg. Then there’s Daniel Sturridge who is sick of playing on the wings at Chelsea.

What I’m trying to say is this: if Suarez does leave, there are plenty of players who could come in and do a job. What’s more these players may be better suited to play in Liverpool’s system (whereby two wingers flash in crosses to a goal-scoring centre-forward).

Whilst he’s a good player, maybe Liverpool’s best at this current time, I’m not sure his leaving would affect the club as much as many people like to think. Liverpool will want to keep him but there are options for the club to consider should somebody offer a figure that the Reds can’t refuse.

Anyone suggesting Liverpool sell their best players must be off their rocker. Although there is significant room for improvement, I like the look of the current squad. With the addition of a creative player like Hazard or Eriksen and a (preferably young) fox-in-the-box striker, a Liverpool team blessed with world class players like Gerrard and Suárez are well on their way back to the top of the English and European game.

What a load of garbage!!!!!!!! Why are you talking about selling one of our best players , totally absurd. Replace him with????????

  • Chips says:

Just get both Cavani and Lavezzi. That will certainly make all our opponents will start to shake in their pants! With these two upfront Suarez hsa sit just behind and create the killer passes together with Stevie G. Suarez will play the same roll as Silva at Man C.

No Liverpool-based website has given any credence to the idea of LFC selling Suarez, because locals know his importance to the club and the fanbase. The club is in a sound financial position and the owners would be mad to sell their youngest iconic player. He will be at Anfield for years to come.

  • Lfc says:

Well Lfc financial view is good, and selling luis is good so to get rid of the media but thats the only good thing for selling him, Edison Cavani is Uruguayan if im right that is. So luis is Uruguayan can persuade hist international teamate to join lfc and another good thing is that he is a great player and he has more to give us 🙂

2 wingers flashing in crosses ???
I have missed a couple of games but I and I would think Andy Carroll had not seen this system you say we are using.
Stevie G is still in a lot of peoples world top 11 side but even he can’t turn back time he is not a young player but you think it would help to get rid of Luis we have lost too many of our top players the last few years this would be madness

  • Lfc4lifer says:

    Sell Suarez?

No LFC fan would want such foolishness to happen!

But All players have a price on there heads..

So if whoever wants him the will need to fork out say £90m-£100m and they can pick him up in 2017:D

  • Bekim says:

Idiotic article at highest order. So u and Alex mc Taggart know best what’s good for LFC. Thank heaven that people like u don’t decide whats good for our club. YNWA

  • Fernando says:
