NINE great transfer fixes for Liverpool to consider this summer:

When asked to write an article about Liverpool, at first it seemed a rather fruitless exercise. I thought I would only evoke negativity amongst the Liverpool fans but in truth there is a lot to be confident about.

I don’t see any reason why the club cannot unite after the Evra-Suarez incidents and really push for 4th place. Chelsea and Arsenal both have European matches to focus on as well as tricky FA Cup ties. Liverpool have an easy FA Cup match and can focus entirely of the next few league matches.

However, should Liverpool gain 4th they are a few players short in competing seriously in next seasons Champions League.

With Pepe Reina, they have one of the most consistent performers in the Premier League in goal but for next season they need at least 1 decent centre back. Jamie Carragher doesn’t look like he has another full season in him and Martin Skrtel still seems a liability prone to rash tackles and collecting cards. I am a fan of Daniel Agger and I hope he can reproduce his early Anfield form and fitness. Jose Enrique and Glen Johnson provide excellent full back options and Martin Kelly is a promising prospect as well. Would the acquisition of Ryan Shawcross from Stoke interest all parties? A fit back 4 of Johnson, Shawcross, Agger and Enrique does sound good.

Liverpool’s midfield isn’t too bad. The central area is blessed with Lucas Leivas, Charlie Adam, Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson. Liverpool have been linked with Eden Hazard but I feel they should go and get 2 wingers. I’m not a Downing fan and Maxi isn’t going to get 38 games a seaon. Liverpool need 2 wingers – one for either side.

Could Malouda be tempted with a move? Or could Scott Sinclair handle another step up? Would Adam Johnson leave Man City in search of first team football? Would Aaron Lennon consider a move if Harry Redknapp leaves Tottenham? Although he’s not an out and out winger rumours have also linked Liverpool repeatedly with James Milner. A good signing if Liverpool could get him.

With Luis Suarez in the side they are guaranteed goals and creativity. Craig Bellamy is in inspired form, the form of his life. With Andy Carroll misfiring I expect bids for the likes of Darren Bent or Jermaine Defoe.

Which areas do you think Liverpool need strengthening if they did get this seasons 4th Champions League spot. Comment below

I would hope that a more creative stroker would be bought plus I woulds hope that one of the more creative foreign imports would be brought to town for the winger spots. Agree that Shawcross would be a good purchase but also think there are others that would do just as well!

i think that we will need a player like Yan M’Vila in midfield.Lucas will be back next season, but we don’t how he will play.Adam and Henderson are too poor in a defensive role.Spearing is for the future, not now.We also need a very good striker,a world class one.We must stop spending a lot of money on poor players.

    Reina
    Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique
    Gerrard Lucas Adam
    Lavezzi Carroll Suarez

Subs:Doni Kelly Carragher Coates Robinson Spearing Henderson Maxi Downing Bellamy L.De Jong

That would be a great squad to watch

Forget “natural” wingers, that kind of thinking has led the club to waste precious time and money with players like Pennant, Riera and now Downing. Eden Hazard is the kind of player we need to get back to the top – a footballer with the technical skills and desire to make it at Liverpool.

we need a creative central midfielder who plays like, Silva (Man city), Rosicky (Arsenal ), Modric (Tothenham), Bannan (Aston Villa ), etc

on the right wing we play Glen Johnson

I like to see a defensive midfielder coming in or I would love to see John Flannagan tried in that position. He’s got that heart to win. Also we need wingers but for the remainder of the season why don’t we try these youngsters – Sterling, Suso, Ecclestone & Silva. We also need a strike like Higuian.
