Shouldn’t this big money star feel at home with Liverpool by now?

Lets face it,  Andy Carroll is yet to live up to even a third of the extortionate price tag Liverpool paid for him just over a year ago and it is unlikely he will ever fulfill the expectations of a £35 million forward.  The Geordie was plagued by niggling and frustrating injuries upon his arrival at Anfield and they prevented him finding true form.  At times the big man has looked so embarrassingly short of confidence that perhaps he wouldn’t even get into the Everton side ahead of Denis Stracqualursi.

However Carroll seems to believe that his fifth goal in thirty games for Liverpool against a lowly Brighton could provide the turning point required. He spoke openly this week saying, ‘I feel like I am doing well and have just started to get going’.  He continues to mention his recent form, ‘I am scoring goals and I feel like I am doing well in games now. It’s all starting to come together for me.  This is the best I’ve felt since I have been here, without a doubt. I feel fit and confident and I think it is showing in my performances.  I’m getting around the pitch more and getting involved. I think it shows that I am happier and more confident‘.  These are confident words from the Geordie but they are also slightly difficult to fathom.  The comments seem a little bit over the top for a man who is still clearly struggling.

Carroll’s words kind of seemed like the football’s version of the most humble man in cricket, Kevin Pieterson.  Too keen to praise himself in an attempt to don a false bravado whilst the media and worldwide fans know full well you’re struggling.  He describes himself as ‘scoring goals’ but sorry Andy a goal against Oldham, Brighton and Wolverhampton during the suspension of Luis Suarez doesn’t exactly suggest goal scoring form.  And what’s more, if he does suddenly feel so happy within himself, what took him so long?  The target man has had a whole season to find his feet at Anfield with the unwavering support of everyone at Melwood, none more so than Kenny Dalglish.

It’s about time Carroll began repaying the bountiful support that has been shown towards the unreliable Englishman.  Otherwise Dalglish and Liverpool will have no choice but to cut their loses whilst they can and go their separate ways.  It’s Carroll’s decision: does he continue to big himself up or does he actually start performing in the way Liverpool expect?

Did you actually see the match, or Carroll’s performances over the past few weeks? He is Liverpool’s most improved player in 2012.
Forget about the price tag, he is now looking like the best English-born centre forward.

He is starting to repay….so what’s the problem?
He can only score against the teams he plays against .
Verbal support and backing from kenny yes
But this is his first run of 4 games in a row for us still and he is looking more comfortable and far more effective these few games so why should he not say so ?

With constant linking away from the club during the window , why not say u feel settled and like things are working?
To reassure fans his interest and attention is with Lfc.

Good man keep it up andy!

I hate these articles written in popularist guise in the hope a few numpties will agree with you! Andy carroll had a slow start, yup. We’d have liked more goals, yup again. The price we paid is not an issue at all. We didn’t break the bank to buy him, we sold a striker who was doing absolutely nothing for us at a price that really WAS ridiculous. His efforts in the year since have proven what a terrible buy and fantastic sale that guy was.

Andy Carroll has started to bed in with the other players, he’s had a few decent games and I am sure the improvement will continue. It doesn’t matter who he scores against as long as he scores and builds his confidence. Get off the lad’s case and let him do what we all want him to do… be a success for the Reds.

Maybe you should re think your opinion Francis and maybe consider the form that Luis has been, yes Carroll has had his critics but he’s really starting to turn his game around, don’t be quick to judge even if it is after all this time. The real worry now is the Premier League for Liverpool.

I don’t really like your opinion on football Francis and I must say that your judgement is quite off the radar! Also, your car is atrocious…
