Is there a real chance of Suarez getting forced out at Anfield?

|

As the anti-Suarez bandwagon rumbles on and Liverpool fans become more and more entrenched against the media’s all out attack on the Uruguayan striker, the truth has become more and more uncertain. The handshake debacle only served to unnecessarily complicate things – like choosing to pour Tabasco on a vindaloo curry – and has got fans and the media in a real sweat.

Liverpool have exchanged a variety of apologies with Manchester United and the general public, but the whole palaver is likely to stay at the forefront of mainstream media for the next few weeks. Understandably Luis Suarez’s future in England has been questioned with numerous sources claiming that his time with the Reds may be coming to a premature end.

Everything seems to come back to repairing Liverpool’s weather-beaten image. At the moment Liverpool’s standing is at an all time low. Whether you’re a fan or not, it’s evident to everybody exactly how certain actions have been seen in the greater footballing world. Whether you’re behind the decision to wear shirts in support of Suarez or not, the way it was interpreted by the media and the rest of the world was indisputably negative.

And the continued support of Luis Suarez by Kenny Dalglish and the rest of Liverpool has been catastrophic for the Reds’ image. The appearance of three Liverpool apologies in one day (from Suarez, Dalglish and managing director Iain Ayre) it’s more or less clear that the club’s American owners have had to step in. About time too; no club in the Premier League has worse PR than Liverpool and something needed to be done or it was likely that things would get worse and worse.

But are we really to believe that FSG have begun to question Suarez’s future at the club? FSG are savvy business men – they’ve released the need to readdress Liverpool’s PR – but would they really be willing to force out one of the club’s best players simply to please those who have united against the Reds?

The Telegraph have run with the headline Luis Suarez future at Anfield in doubt…but don’t provide much evidence to this conclusion. The line of thought seems to be that since both manager and managing director have condemned the striker, his time at the club may be limited. This suggests that Kenny Dalglish and the Liverpool brass can’t distinguish between Suarez’s utility for the club and the morality of his actions – something which is patently untrue.

After failing to improve themselves in the transfer market by spending big money on the likes of Andy Carroll, Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson, the Reds will be desperate to keep hold of their best assets. What’s more Suarez has apologised for his actions, isn’t it about time we began to move on.

Whether you consider Suarez’s actions to be right or wrong, one thing’s for sure – he won’t get forced out of the club and will have the support of the Liverpool fans, for better or worse.

Suarez has time to get in front of this by behaving and playing well until the end of the season. There will have to be some ant-racist PR done by Suarez and the club to restore its proud image.Ferguson is a sneaky hypocritical bollocks who dislikes Dalglish and Liverpools success. He hates the fact that Pool have won more CL’s than Utd and that he was bitch slapped by Barca at coming close.Suarez is world class and has to stay and repay the club

We should not give in to Red Nose Fergie and the Media ,LS paid his dues for 8 games, LS has apologised and lets move on , he is an outstanding player and KD should just warn him that any disciplinary issues in the future will be severely dealt with. we cannot get rid of a player because he did shake hands of an opposition player and Fergie says so,

Suarez made an error of judgement in not shaking Evra’s hand and thus putting the whole story to bed, independently of what had gone on beforehand. Having spent significant in the Southern Cone, I believe Luis had intended no racial slur on Evra in the October match between Liverpool and Man. United. At the same time, Evra’s poor command of Spanish means he was probably also sincere in misunderstanding Suarez’s intentions.

The handshake was an opportunity to draw the line behind the unfortunate incident and focus on football, which I hope Luis and Liverpool can do after the round of apologies that defused a potential crisis between the two football clubs.

Anyone suggesting that Suarez be forced out of the club, on the other hand, is either bonkers or has malicious intent (with Sir Alex probably falling in the latter category). Suarez may be a passionate player who courts controversy in the manner of Eric Cantona and Maradona, however he is also loyal to his club and gives everything on the football pitch. Like Cantona and Maradona, Suarez inspires the fans of his own club and will surely help Liverpool to win many trophies in his time in England.
