Harry Redknapp is preparing to test Martin Jol’s resolve by making another approach for Fulham midfielder Moussa Dembele in a cash plus player deal, reports the Daily Mirror.

Redknapp is a known admirer of Dembele and has already seen two previous bids for the 24 year-old rejected, but the Tottenham manager is ready to make Martin Jol an improved offer of £10m plus Niko Kranjcar who has become surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane this season.

Spurs reportedly had a £10m bid turned down on the final day of last year’s January transfer window and were heavily linked with the Belgian international again in November. ‘Flattered’ by the reported interest, Dembele was quoted in the Belgian press as saying he would consider the chance of playing in a team competing at the top of the Premiership.

Dembele told Flemish daily newspaper De Standaard, “I did well last season when I was not injured, through many matches for Fulham, so why not step higher?”

Questioned on the reported interest from Spurs, he added, ”Yes, I heard that. It would obviously be a step higher and that has always been my goal.”

Fulham signed Dembele for £5m from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in August 2010. He has since been widely praised for his hard-working ethic and all-round game even though the Belgian international has so far only found the net on one ocassion this season. International teammate and Manchester City Captain, Vincent Kompany, has described his fellow countryman as the most under-rated player in the Premier League.

Jol will want to hang on to his highly-rated midfielder but Redknapp’s improved offer of £10m with Kranjcar going in the opposite direction could tempt the Fulham boss after he was linked with a move for the Croatian in the summer. The 27 year-old playmaker has only featured in 4 of Spurs games this season so the opportunity of first-team whilst remaining in the capital will surely appeal to Kranjcar.
