Eden Hazard ready to make his move, but should it be to Arsenal or Chelsea?

Eden Hazard may only be 21-years-old, but it feels like the transfer rumours that surround him have been going on forever. He’s been a part of an impressive Lille side now for almost five years, and was an integral part of the side that won the League and Cup double last season. He’s won numerous accolades and is all set for a move to a top European League. But where’s he likely to end up?

Speculation has heated up after The Star claimed that Eden was heading for the exit door at Lille. Unfortunately the article itself contains little in terms of quotes or actual definitive evidence to suggest that Lille are ready to sell their star player, but you’d hope that there was some substance to their claims and it wasn’t all just senseless rumour-mongering.

Eden himself has already made it clear that he’d prefer to join Barcelona or Real Madrid when the time comes for him to move on from the French club. But given the money available in the English game at the moment, who’d bet against him joining an English club. The Star even claim that Lille ‘say they will sell the Belgium winger during the current transfer window’.

Though I’d take that assertion with a pinch of salt, you do have to wonder if the Lille hierarchy have grown sick of the constant speculation and are ready to sell and make a big profit.

A price-tag of around £25m has been affixed to Eden Hazard in numerous publications, but it seems certain that it’d take more than this to prize Hazard away from Lille. What’s more the Belgium’s wage-demands are unlikely to be low – whoever wins Hazard’s signature will be making a costly investment.

With that in mind, which Premier League club would suit Hazard best?

Chelsea are the club who have been linked most strongly to the Belgium and are also financially secure enough to see through any deal.

But I’d argue it is Arsenal who need him most. The Gunners look devoid of any talent down the wings (the rise of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain aside) with Arshavin in particular providing a constant source of exasperation. Eden Hazard could provide a much needed douse of inspiration for this developing Arsenal side. What’s more, you’d hope that ex-Lille star would be able to put in a good word on the behalf of the Gunners, should they attempt to tempt him over to their side of London.

It comes down to this: Chelsea have the money, but Arsenal have the more pressing need. Whether or not Wenger will break the habit of a lifetime, remains to be seen, but I’m sure Chelsea wont be alone in bidding for Eden whether it be this January, or this Summer.

this guy has made it clear he wants to go to spain and why quote price tags they are just the start then its what the player agent uncle dog wants

  • ruemu says:

Eden as already express its self that is going to spain. If is not ready to come to England or to arsenalfc, then he should fuck away to where ever he want to go to. We have ox, jack, etc…fuck u hazard

  • Up chelsea pls buy dis guy hazard is a good player that chelsea need 2 buy up chelsea

  • Mr Finch says:

The problem is he’s overated. He’s worth around £15Million but Lille will want £25Million and Chelsea, Man City etc are mad enough to pay that. Last year Gervinho out-scored him and out-assisted him too and he was £10Million. Hazards record this season is about the same as last year.

  • geoffreid says:

what does it matter to the gunners the idiot has no intention of buying anyone of class.

  • sugio says:

gunner must fight chelsea for hazard

  • james says:

Forget hazard and gotze for that matter too expensive and to inconsistent, like Nasri world class one game anonymous the next.

In the summer arsenal should sell Almunia, Arshavin, Bendtner, Squilaci, Denilson, Diaby, Gibbs, Chamakh and possibly Djourou then bring a few of these in Erickson (Ajax) 15 million, Shaquiri (Basel) 12 million, Vertonghen (Ajax) 10 million, Merko Marin (Werder Bramen) 7 million, Podolski (Koln) 15 million and promote a few youngsters like Miyaichi, Aneke and Afobe

All these signings could be bought for what it would actually cost to buy hazard and gotze buy the time barca, real and city have spending war I anticipate that hazard would go for around 30 million and gotze 35 because of the clubs they play for Lille (Small club) and Dortmund (Big club)

    • Thabani says:

The palyers you mention should have been sold & bough in Jan, it will ne difficult for Arsenal to attract new players with no champions league and financial clout.

      Arsene Wenger must go

  • Djamoxyl says:

Cfc shld not buy dc guy coz we have Lucas Piazon & Josh mic. Coming up from our academy…. Up chelsea,

  • Eriss says:

Whether Eden or whoever, the problem is, Wenga ll never buy. And until Arsenal cannot qualify for champions league spot, we may well forget about any class signing.

  • moses says:

it better he move to arsenal if he want to come to premier legeaue side because he star of play fit de gunner

  • Why is that wenger will follow a player when it real biz he will run away.

  • Chinedu says:

Arsenal is not the only club in the premier league,if they decide 2 continue 2 turn a blind eye to their deficiencies, then so be it.But a champions league spot & most importantly a trophy is for a club that recognizes their problem & does something 2 remedy it.

I just love all the AW out posts covered in expletives, does it make your point more valid? Or does it show a lack of maturity? If you think AW should leave why not apply a little thought and come up with a suitable and intelligent (swearing in posts aside) replacement. Unfortunately my first choice is now unavailable as Sunderland snapped him up.

  • Luzilo says:

    Hey,Gunners buy Hazard faster!
