Surely it’s time for Leicester City to put their money where their mouth is?

FORGET ABOUT THE PRICE TAG….

….so sang Jessie J in her recent hit single!

But it would appear that the owners and supporters of Leicester City football club are failing to sing from the same hymn sheet when it comes to the current managerial situation or lack of it down at the King Power Stadium.

Money, these days, does all the talking in football it seems. And boy have Leicester City been gobbing off this season. Money it seems was no object when, pre season, Sven went shopping for new players. Sven wanted it, Sven got it. We fans were high on daily news seeing who was the latest player we had just spent over the £1m pound barrier on.

I mean, we even erased the painful (to some) memory of our record buy Ade Akinbiyi by splashing out over £5m on defender Matt Mills from Reading. Even our ‘bargain’ of the season Kasper Schmeichel was reputed to have cost over the million.

Our manager, and yes it still seems a tad strange to believe that he was, ex England boss Sven Goran Eriksson was probably the highest paid manager in The Championship.

But as we all know…. money can’t buy you everything.
And after 13 odd games it seems that The Thai money was not going to buy us The Championship title.

Suddenly after wobbling for a few weeks following embarrassing defeats to Birmingham & Millwall the wheels finally came off the LCFC wagon and Sven was gone.

Vichai and Top Raksriaksorn so called top businessmen suddenly started to come across as cats caught in the glare of football headlights.

They sacked their manager without, it seemed, any idea of who who be able to replace him.

Days passed as every manager with or without a job was linked with the position. It seemed like every day a new named topped the bookies favourite for the job chart.

Then it was announced that Nigel Pearson was on Top of Tops wanted list.

The man who had had two amazing season’s with us previously but felt unwanted by previous owner Milan Mandaric was now most wanted by his replacement.

Hull at first, feeling the need to make Nigel feel wanted no doubt, refused LCFC permission to talk to him, but relented when Nigel himself expressed his desire to speak to hid former club.

Unfinished business and the lure of soccer’s number 1 commodity, money, it seems were luring Nigel Pearson back to The East Midlands.

But Hull’s new Egyptian owners, top business men themselves, are not going to give up without a fight, and are standing firm when it comes to compensation

But this is where I, and I believe most City fans, are staring to get extremely frustrated with the whole situation.

The new manager, presuming it will be Pearson, should have had a whole two weeks of the international break to get used to and work with his new squad. learning about and getting his idea’s across to them. This is down to one week and counting.

Whilst I am sure neither the Egyptians or the Thai’s want to be the first ones to blink I suggest to OUR owners that they need to, on this occasion, accept that whilst we are being held for ransom it is in the clubs best interest’s to rub our eyes and blink first for once.

They have always stated that, although they have money they will not be held to ransom but this whole sorry saga is starting to damage the club, and we may end up having to write off promotion this season. Then how will saving the odd £200,000 seem then guys?

It is allegedly reported that we paid Sven over £1m+ for NOT wanting his services but are unwilling to pay (reportably) the same amount to get the services of a manager and his two assistants we WANT.

To pout it bluntly
Sack Sven and pay over a £1m in compensation is ok.
To employ Pearson, Shakespeare & Walsh and pay over £1m in compensation isn’t ok?

At the recent Leeds match at The King Power, Vichai & Top’s picture was flashed on the big screen and was greeted with booing from a section of the fans.

Listen to the fans boys. If we can pay over £5m for one player and over £1m to sack someone then stop dithering and pay to get the team YOU want to manage the squad.

You have landed the club in a big heap of cow poo and if you are not quick and get this whole sorry state of affairs sorted we will not come out of it smelling of roses.
