Surely there can only be one victor in Dalglish’s battle with the media?

|

And after the 2-1 Carling Cup victory over Stoke another reporter asked a much more positive question about the £35 million man, simply enquiring: “We know Luis Suarez will take the headlines on for Wednesday, but Andy had a really good game. I know there have been one or two questions about his form, but do you feel vindicated every time he puts in a performance like that?”

But even then Dalglish reacted angrily retorting: “I don’t know why he had to ride it. There’s always one or two questions. He was fantastic the other night, just leave it at that, and just leave your question at that as well, and don’t keep looking for negatives. We’ve been through it before with the big fella.”

The manager may think he is just defending his players and attacking journalists he feels aren’t worthy of his presence but it is creating a storm around him that is likely to end badly. Dalglish’s plan of action in press conferences and interviews may work well for him but it is going to make him a target for criticism when things go wrong.

Journalists are asking the questions that the public want answers to and getting an aggressive response so they have decided to take a more positive line of questioning with him, only for the mundane and repetitive style of interviewing to be criticised by the Scot in another rage. Doing this will only alienate him from the press and when things start to go wrong he will not be able to get away from the criticism. The media will not go out and target the Liverpool manager but if he is going to argue with them on a weekly basis why would they want to sweep any problems at Anfield under the rug?

Andy Carroll’s form is not fantastic but it is being concentrated on more and more because of the strained relationship that is being created between the club and the press. Stories are there to be found and the journalists mocked by Dalglish will not turn a blind eye to any sight of a problem.

Kenny Dalglish picked a fight with the media that he can only win while his team is winning like they did on Sunday. But if he doesn’t guide them to the top four and begins to struggle, the press will be ready to put the pressure on.

    Time will tell.

I’m sure Kenny doesn’t care if it brings some criticism upon him. He is doing his job and sharing with the public what needs to be shared, everything else is kept where it should be; inside Liverpool FC.

doesnt seem to have done ferguson any harm – he has sychophantic hacks fawning all over him! anyway,, I dont think Kenny gives a damn what a largely anti-LFC media ‘just doing their jobs’ think – its LFC fans and club who he cares about and we adore the lad – its not like they have a positive influence on our well-being anyway is it

This is yet another cut n paste of articles several days ago.

    1. “Journalists are asking the questions that the public want answers to.”

The LFC-supporting public do not need answers regarding the form of our newly-acquired, 22 year old target man. Kenny knows his form, he watches his everyday. He’ll also play when it suits the team that week. Thankfully, we now have optiond with the squad!

Kenny has brought in 9 new players.
Enrique, Adam, Suarez & Bellamy – excellent. Downing – excellent in patches (like a certain other Villa winger who moved in the summer)
Henderson, Carroll, Coates – young, bedding in and each one offering formational options.

    2. “Dalglish takes exception to people doing their job because they are not doing as he wants.”

I would say that this is the biggest fallacy of ts piece. Unlike ‘Arry, Kenny doesn’t “want for the press”. He wants for his club. He has been successful on the pitch and suitably protective and bullish off it.

Any observer of the way SSN works will recognise that it is precisely because Kenny will not do what THEY WANT, that this sort of article appears.

He won’t claim to be title contenders after beating a mid-table team at home, or wind his car window down to talk about transfer targets.

It’s all back in-house, the way it used to be. The media hate this kind of blackout. Good.

    Kenny’s 30 league games back: Won 17, Drawn 7 Lost 6.

    The Groove is back!

When he gets as bad as SAF then you have every right to right such cack. Not once has he swore, walked out or given any journalist half as much grief so instead of lambasting him and accusing him of attacking journos focus your attention on the other Scot at the end of the Lancs and his behavious with the media. Biased, loose reporting again and clearly with an agenda.

its how he always deals with the media and it has never done him any harm before. your obviously struggling for any real story so wrote this crap find some decent material to write about or try a job that fits like a table cleaner at a fast food place

Kenny only needs to worry about the Club , it’s players , supporters and owners. We are perfectly happy with his response to the media.
In the light of recent enquiries into the behaviour of the press and Liverpool FC’s experience of tabloid rags.. Do you really think we give a damn about their attitude to our manager.
We respect him, he respects us. End of!.
