Is this the KEY to United finding their groove?

This summer has seen Manchester United go on a vast spending spree and make what was an aging squad into a young and exciting team that has the potential to dominate English football for years to come. They have had the kind of summer transfer close-season that less financially endowed clubs can only dream about.

Harry Redknapp said: “It’s frightening when you think United are the defending champions and they go out and spend over £50 million on Phil Jones, Ashley Young and David de Gea”. But, do they now have a complete squad, a squad that can have revenge on aBarcelonaside that also added impressive players such as Fabregas and Sanchez?

The season had started so well with Rooney scoring goals galore and Welbeck looking better and better but then came the derby nightmare, the 6-1 drubbing they received from their seemingly ‘deafening neighbours’. When a defeat such as this happens questions are unsurprisingly asked and one that looks to be the most pressing is how they managed to be so dominated in the midfield. Milner was outstanding again whilst Yaya Toure showed us what a versatile player he is.

The summer was kind to Alex Ferguson but he desperately needs a central midfielder. Tom Cleverly is a great prospect but with him being injured recently, and Anderson still continuing to show only rare moments of class, this drew attention to a serious void in the centre. There was much speculation about Sneijder coming toManchesterbut where would he really fit in?

At Inter Milan Sneijder plays in the hole, a role that at Manchester United would mean playing just one striker, which is a position in which they have an abundance of talent .What they need, surely, is a playmaker who can control the game. Javi Martinez or a Thiao Alcântara would be good buys for the future but a quick fix could come in the form of João Moutinho fromPorto.
