Germany became one of the first nations to automatically qualify for Euro 2012 and Joachim Loew’s men should be the team to fear next summer.

Germany are one of three teams to have a 100% record in the Euro 2012 qualifying campaign, winning all eight of their games, scoring 28 goals and conceding just 5, in a group that was supposed to be a tricky one, as it included Belgium and Turkey.

Only the Netherlands have scored more than Germany, but that is largely due to the 16 goals they accumulated against San Marino over the two games they played against the minnows.

Germany Head Coach Joachim Loew has assembled a talented squad of players, and he has put emphasis on bringing through the country’s most exciting youngsters. Since their semi-final exit at the World Cup in 2010, Germany have introduced more young starlets to their squad.

After the emergence of Mesut Ozil, Sami Khedira, Jerome Boateng, Manuel Neuer and Toni Kroos in the World Cup, Germany have added Borussia Dortmund’s highly rated midfielder Mario Gotze, Bayer Leverkusen striker Andre Schurrle and defenders Mats Hummels and Benedikt Howedes from Borussia Dortmund and Schalke respectively, to their ever improving squad.

The attractive brand of football that Loew has created with the German national team, will make them a force to be reckoned with at next summer’s tournament.

Their talent was already evident at the World Cup as they captivated South Africa with some breathtaking displays of attacking football, including a 4-1 win over England and a 4-0 win over Argentina.

But for the second major tournament running, they once again met their match, as they were defeated in the semi-final by the eventual champions Spain, who also beat Germany in the final of Euro 2008.

After winning two major tournaments in quick succession, Spain will definitely go in as the favourites at next summer’s European Championships, but if there is one team that can stop them, it’s the Germans.

I would be surprised if the winner of Euro 2012 isn’t one of either Germany, Spain or the Netherlands, because they possess the three strongest squads in Europe at the moment.

But Euro 2012 is still more than six months away and it is too early to predict as anything can happen, and some teams can lose key players to injury.

But one thing that definitely won’t change come next summer, is the famous saying; don’t ever write off the Germans.
