Why United’s flying heros must keep their feet on the ground:

|

All is well at Stretford End, with a shower of goals showing no end much like Sir Alex’s career. The 69 year-old Scott could not have asked for a better start following his record-breaking campaign last season. He sat watching a confident United side bullying their way past Bolton this past weekend. 18 goals in 4 league games, with Rooney scoring back-to-back hat tricks is something even J.K. Rowling couldn’t have imagined.

New signings have shown worth to each pound shelled out by the stingy Scot, as they wasted little time in settling down from their transfers.  Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverley becoming a clear example of United’s youth academy, showing superior form following their loan spells from Sunderland and Wigan Athletic. Welbeck found the back of the net twice, helping for another, before falling to an ill-timed injury. Cleverley has quenched the thirst of the Faithful’s demand for a midfielder.

Although he has yet to prove his consistency, the kid’s been on fire (thanks to his girlfriend’s magazine spread, so have we). United’s back four has proven time and time again their strengths, this time boasting a an average of 21 years in age. Though injury plagues have ruled out the likes of Evra, Rafael, Ferdinand, Evans, and Vidic, the depth in their bench is about as deep as the throat on Kim Kardashian. The young boys managed to keep two clean sheets, and conceded 3 goals in 4 games.

Youngy’s been fabulous in the wide position providing versatility in attack, and there’s no doubt about the boy’s ability to whip in a cross.

Phil Jones may be a shell necklace away from completing his California surfer-boy look, but he’s waved his way into United’s defence, proving his ability to play out as a side back.

Rooney is enjoying the form of his life. Head full of hair (well at least for him), 8 goals in 4 games, fair display for England, and definitely a prostitute free season.

United’s confidence is swelling, spirits are high, and they have every right to be. Or do they?

Tottenham has constantly been tortured by the Modric saga, and failed to off-load dead weight during the transfer window. Arsenal’s been ripped apart by the Cesc Fabregas saga, with Samuel Nasri leaving to Manchester City days before the big match. Injury played a part in their already weakened team, with Arsene Wenger going under heavy attack by the Arsenal fans who are tired of his “confidence” in the current team.

The Reebok Stadium is always a hard place to go into, and Owen Coyle is no sheep. Bolton, however, failed to show up for the game and lacked the pace that injured winger Lee Chung Young offered.

United’s true test comes from Chelsea on Sunday, with a mid week Champions League game sure to cause some problems in stamina. You can hardly consider this a classical contest however, with Chelsea’s form ironically looking much like United’s form in the beginning of last season.  While there is no doubt that United have started the season brilliantly, they must keep their boots on the pitch.
