Why Blackburn Rovers May Struggle This Season

|

With a solid yet far from prolific goal scorer Jason Roberts heading the attack, the position alongside him seems open. With Raul rejecting the advances of unattractive Rovers, it seems something needs to be done sooner rather than later to ease the goal worries.

Yet Steve Kean is doing something. With Simon Vukcevic signing in the near future from Sporting Lisbon, and Kean supposedly in the market for another two signings, it appears that he is going to make a big effort to restore quality within the Blackburn ranks, alongside attempting to save his own job. Unfortunately, it could be a case of too little too late, as this Blackburn squad arguably should have been ready and primed before the season even began.

With some potential transfer activity likely, as the days gradually slip away before the window slams shut, it will also take a period of time for these new players to gel, this period of time could prove costly come the end of the season. Therefore, his fate within the club could already be sealed, as patience seems to be wearing thin amongst board members and fans alike. The signings of David Goodwillie and Radosav Petrovic appear to signal Kean’s intent from the start; putting faith in these relatively unknown players to ‘do the business’ for his side.

With the season just beginning, a Blackburn rovers fan must look to a long, hard year ahead of them. With fellow relegation candidates West Bromwich Albion strengthening their squad with proven premier league experience alongside flair players, it seems that their future lies safe in the knowledge that they have recruited well.

It seems that Blackburn Rovers lack the required depth within their ageing squad, leaving the relegation candidates relying on other teams around them such as Norwich or QPR performing considerably worse than them as the season progresses. With the home loss to Wolves on the already short list of potential wins, it is vital that Blackburn Rovers grind out any results that they can within the rest of the season if their lengthy Premier League status is to remain intact for another year.
