A Look At The City Youth…

|

Abdul Razak is probably one of the lesser known players who I believe has a chance at finding a place in the first team squad this season.  The 18 year old is Ivorian and began his career in the youth academy of Crystal Palace before he made the move to City.  The teenager is widely regarded at the club as being a really top prospect and there has been interest in him from other clubs.  There is reportedly ongoing negotiations over a new deal for the player as his current one expires at the end of this season and supposedly there are other Premier League clubs ready to step in and snap him up.

The combative midfielder made some appearances for the club in preseason, as well as making a solitary appearance for the first team last season as a substitute.  Obviously City are not short of defensively minded midfield players but from what I have seen I really believe that he has the ability to make some appearances for the first team this season.

There should also be mentions for Spaniards Joan Roman and Denis Suarez and young Dutch defender Karim Rekik, who may be slightly younger than the previously mentioned but are still thought of incredibly highly by all at the club.  Many will criticise City, and say they are doing nothing for youth development and damaging the chances of their youngsters, but in reality nothing could be further from the truth.

With the unveiling of the new training campus there is a clear desire to develop and recruit the best youngsters from both the North West but also across the world since this can ensure the long term sustainability of the club in the best possible way.
