Is This Manchester United Youngster Flushing His Future Down The Toilet?

|

Morrison grew up in the Wythenshawe area of Manchester, a suburb that has deep rooted gang issues and that is the problem that the youngster is facing.  You would have thought that after escaping jail time he would have started to alter his ways.  He was ordered to seek domestic violence counselling after his 3 alleged assaults in 3 years, and many hoped that this would help the player sort his life out.  Team mate Rio Ferdinand even offered to put up the youngster in an attempt to help him through this difficult period in his life, this however never happened.

Things haven’t really improved, he found himself in hot water with the club at the end of the season for publically criticising the clubs end of season celebrations on twitter.  Even more importantly it was reported widely in the press yesterday that the player has again been interviewed relating to another case of witness intimidation.  This time the case is from another mugging victim who gave evidence against friends of Morrison last year after another robbery.  The player was not arrested or charged with anything, but was warned that if he was found guilty of any wrong doing he could be.

The teen knows that if he is found to have broken his referral order from earlier cases he will definitely face jail time, and it is thought that the hierarchy at Old Trafford could finally be losing patience with him.  He was supposed to play for the reserve team twice this week and without any explanation he was omitted on both occasions.  The word at the club is that the player is not making enough effort to harness his abilities and to turn himself into a top player, he has all the attributes and potential but is making no effort to make anything of himself.

We all know that Sir Alex Ferguson doesn’t look too fondly upon players who spend too much time in the media spot light, and clearly he will look upon issues like this even less fondly.  It is a great shame for everyone concerned that these most recent allegations have come along, Morrison stands at a cross roads and which route he takes remains entirely upto him.  If this recent questioning comes to nothing, which hopefully it will, surely the player will realise it is time to knuckle down, grow up and concentrate on his football, ultimately he has to help himself, noone else can make his decisions for him.

I am a huge Manchester City fan, but also a fan of football as a game. I like to watch games at all levels, from Blue Square Premier, right up to the Premier League where I have a season ticket at City. I really enjoy writing for This Is Futbol because it allows me to give my thoughts on the very latest pieces of football news. I also run thoughtsfromtheinvisibleman.blogspot.com for all things Manchester City.
