Could selling Fabregas and Nasri leave Arsenal better off?

|

With the departure of Gael Clichy many would argue that for Arsenal to lose two more experienced players would be nothing short of disastrous however it may not be the catastrophe some predict.

If the likes of Nasri and Fabregas left for around £50 million then surely even someone as miserly and stubborn as Arsene Wenger would realise that money could bring in two quality midfielders to replace them.

Admittedly you may not get someone of the same calibre as Fabregas but by maybe investing in a bit of steel and grit rather than another playmaker, you could actually add an edge to the Gooners that’s been missing for some time.

The smart money seems to be on Arsenal not really being a problem for United this season when it comes to retaining our title. Even Liverpool have been getting more kudos from the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson and Wayne Rooney when it comes to being title challengers next season.

Should Arsenal lose their two main midfielders then you can’t imagine anyone backing them for the title.

Call me a mentalist but I simply cannot imagine Wenger not being able to see it’s now or never for his Arsenal career and if he did lose the pair and invested in players that could perform now, rather than in a few years time, then he may give his side a fighting chance.

Arsenal still have the likes of Robin Van Persie, Jack Wilshere plus players like Theo Walcott and Aaron Ramsey who on their day can win matches. As United proved in 1995, losing some of your most influential players doesn’t always signal the end of your title winning chances, everyone may be counting Arsenal out- even if the titular duo stay- but I feel there may be one more good season left in Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal and while I obviously hope I’m wrong, I won’t be discarding their chances just yet.

Have I gone in off the deep end? Is it City and Chelsea that United should be worried about? Is it all over for Wenger should he lost his midfield pair?

All I know is that if Fabregas and Nasri go we have to replace them with Top Notch Readymade players and not some players that will become better in the future!! Same goes for the defender were trying to get! Arsenal please don’t play around!!! Buy some real players!!!

  • MistaKen says:

Of course they can be replaced. If we had a manager who would spend the kind of money necessary to replace them. Bastien Schweinstieger would be a better captain than Fab and we should buy him if we are serious about winning the PL and CL. Edin Hazard can replace Nasri because he is a better player.

We wont go for neither because we don’t have the right manager. Gervino will be a hit by the way

It can’t make us any worse than what we were last season, but with the money we would receive we might be able to go about buying a couple of defenders plus another midfielder or bring one in fron the youth team. Because from what I’ve just read Wenger says we don’t have money to buy players on the scale of other teams, but come on we were told there was ample funds to buy & the closed season would be very busy, what a load of liars the club have become. Wenger should have been sacked ages ago and a decent manager brought in who insisted he wanted this player & that player & also stop treating the players as if they were his own children. They’re supposed to be adults not babies. Buy before we end up loosing every game we play this season, then the board might decide to do something

I agree. I would have a fortnight ago, but I do now.
£60 million for the pair of them would be good business. I would be sad to see them go, but Nasri obviously is looking at the huge signing on fee he can command next summer as a free agent more than what he can do for Arsenal (however, stats show over the last 2 seasons we have won more games when he hasn’t played). With Cesc, it’s constant, all season long, that we are being told he wants to go to Barca and I’m fed up with it. He’s also been injured too much too. He’s an amazing talent, but it’s best for all if he goes back “home” – assuming of course Barca can afford to pay a realistic sum.
Arshavin has been playing out of position since he joined us and I think he should be given an extended run in the hole behind the striker, with Ramsey also given more of a chance now he’s fit again. Also, about time Theo was played through the middle, he a striker, not a winger!

  • Browny says:

Fabregas is a midfield playmaker and Wilshere and Ramsey have been brought on to take over the midfield playmaker roles. Even though many gooners would want a world class playmaker replacement, in this case I would go with Wenger if he decided to hand Cesc’s role to these 2. I can’t think of many available players that we could buy that would be an improvement on these 2, especially Wilshere. I would rather, instead, he brought in an experienced midfielder who is not a like for like replacement but is more of a versatile box to box never say die type leader of a player. It would Preferably be someone who could play the holding role in front of the back 4 but could also play slightly more offensively in front of a holding midfielder in the 4-3-3 system. I think someone like ]Parker would bring more balance to our midfield. Nasri should be moved on if he is not signing and a replacement should be brought in. It shouldn’t be too hard to replace his role especially with Arshavin, Gervinho and Myachi looking good in pre-season. We may have missed a trick with N’Zogbia who would have been EPL ready but there must be others out there such as Mata from Valencia.

arsensl need to sell fast ces and nasri. unhappy player need to clear out

  • Salano says:

Alex Chamberlain is the complete replacement for Samir Nasri and we obtain £25M from the Eltihad Stadium and watch Nasri crumble with his career to either France or Italy and sell Fabregas for £40. Juan Mata will be convinced by the exit of Fabregas at a cost of £25M and already Gervinho in place and get Martasercar from Wender bremen and brinh the Talented Campbell of Costa Rica and promote Ramsey and give offensive responsibilties to Ramsey and wilshire and enforce Song to protecting the back four and play Vermalean on the Left Full back and A new ( Cahil? martas. )and van Persie to be in form and Gervinho and Walcot to hit the ground and widen play ground for Arshavin Arsenal is a team to watch.

  • Salano says:

a2 Mistaken you mean we need to buy a captain or a player who is Bastien Schweinstieger in the eyes Of Wilshire in modern football.
