Suspense all round as the Scottish Premier League reaches its climax

|

The Scottish Premier League has seen lots of highs and lows twists and turns as the title-race threatens to reach boiling point. The Old Firm are still very much at loggerheads to decide the destination of the SPL championship. There are currently three fixtures remaining and a lot at stake. Not only are the Old Firm fighting it out for the championship, Hearts and Dundee United are battling it out for the Europa League spot. With Hearts at Ibrox today, a defeat for Jim Jeffries’ men could leave Dundee United with the chance to close the gap on the Tynecastle side who host Motherwell later in the afternoon at Tannadice. This could surely set up a final day battle when United host Hearts on the final day.

The following week will see the two biggest names in Scottish football battle it out with three fixtures each remaining. Rangers will host third place hearts at Ibrox on Saturday knowing that a win would put massive pressure on their rivals for there trip to Kilmarnock on Sunday. With controversy surrounding the Ibrox club with talks of a possible takeover from Lanarkshire born business man Craig Whyte imminent, boss Walter smith has refused to be drawn on the issues surrounding the clubs future. He is focusing only on the task at hand knowing that three wins out of three will make the Parkhead side powerless to overhaul the current champions and league leaders. On the other side of the city manager Neil Lennon remains defiant that his squad of players will be able to make that final push and win their remaining fixtures sending the course of the title to the final day in hopes of favours elsewhere

With Scottish football still reaching a tantalising end no team will want to lose the title. There have been bitter feuds between both teams over the course of the season. The respective managers have already been battling on the touchline and players are struggling to keep there cool resulting in tension could be cut with a knife between the two sides.  Whatever the outcome over the next seven days one half of Glasgow will be celebrating into the new season with champagne fizzing, while at the other end of the city it will be doom and gloom until the new season arrives. Until next Sunday the Champagne is on ice and both sets of fans will have to watch in suspense until this emphatic league reaches a climax in the 2010/2011 season.
