Which Premier League club represents the best fit for Sergio Aguero?

|

Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero has recently signalled his intenion to further his career with a change of clubs. Speaking to the Spanish Press he said: “I have made my decision and the club should respect that. They knew that I was going to release a statement on my official website to announce my desire to leave.” The question now remains: if Aguero is heading to the Premier League, which club would be the best fit?

With Sergio Agüero now overtly available, many Premier League clubs should be fighting tooth and nail for services of the Argentinean hit man. Agüero has been taking La Liga by storm for a few years now and his youthful exuberance would fend well at the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and their boisterous neighbours, City.

With the probable overhaul of Chelsea’s squad, securing Agüero’s signature ought to be one of the clubs chief priorities. He is young, already has an abundance of European experience and would be the perfect partner for Fernando Torres to spearhead another title and Champions League charge next season.

The strengthening of Chelsea’s strike force is imminent with likely departures of Nicola Anelka and Didier Drogba and having Agüero alongside Daniel Sturridge, who has been a revelation at Bolton, as striking partners for Torres would be quite formidable, even more so if they can add another name to that list as well.

Sturridge’s stock has risen considerably and he appears ready to kick-start his Chelsea career under the guidance of a new manager. There is plenty of energy and quality in him to develop in to the striker Chelsea want.

If Manchester United disposes of Dimitar Berbatov, then Agüero would be the suitable signing to replace him. His energy and eye for goal would suit the current crop of strikers at the club and Agüero and Javier Hernandez would wrestle for a starting berth alongside Wayne Rooney.

Similar with Manchester City, if Carlos Tevez does end up leaving Eastlands then the acquisition of Agüero is a necessity. There aren’t too many strikers on the market with the fundamental qualities of what the Atletico Madrid striker possesses and his tiresome running off the ball and eye for goal would benefit City in their search for European adventure and Premier League glory.
