Media Watch: Liverpool offer part-exchange deal to QPR for Adel Taarabt

|

Liverpool are set to offer Joe Cole to QPR in exchange for Adel Taarabt. Take a look at the above headline. Then ask yourself the question: Just how much of a mug do the folks at Sports News Ireland think that QPR boss Neil Warnock is? According to the aforementioned publication, Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is hoping that a part-exchange deal can be arranged between the two clubs which would see the Rs lose their best player in exchange for the Red’s biggest flop this season. Even if Liverpool add a little cash to the deal, it’s just not an attractive proposition.

Let’s not forget that Joe Cole currently picks up around £90k a week in wages at Liverpool and whilst he may be willing to take a pay-cut to play for another side, would still represent an expensive acquisition for QPR. Whilst Joe Cole has impressed in the past with Chelsea, his time at Liverpool has been an abject failure and when he has been given a chance to shine, he’s stumbled at every opportunity. Who’s to say that Cole still has it in him to help a team like QPR to avoid the drop back into the Championship next season?

Whilst Joe Cole’s career is on a downward trajectory, Adel Taarabt’s is on the up. He was the obvious choice for Player of the Season in the Championship this year and quite clearly has the ability to compete with the best in the Premier League. There’s every chance that he’ll take to the change of pace and ability that the Premier League brings with it in the same manner as Blackpool’s Charlie Adam.

Of course, Neil Warnock is gambling that Taarabt will make the step up in class; but out of everybody in QPR’s squad, he looks best suited to take it in his stride. Besides wouldn’t the bigger gamble be to bring a footballer who has barely played over the past year into the fold and pay him a hefty wage?

Taarabt is desperate to play on the big stage and at only 21-years-old is still going to improve. If QPR are to stand a chance of staying up next season, they will require his creativity and attacking flair. Neil Warnock knows just how important he is and won’t be willing to let him go without a fight.

joe cole would be good for QPR hes proven had bad luck for liverpool, plus hes not settled at liverpool hes homesick for london.. i think he would help qpr…

I agree with Rouman, Cole would be good for QPR, I think he would do well being star man for a team in a free role he would relish. I think this would be a better deal for QPR than Liverpool, although letting Cole go would free up a lot of money for wages. I doubt Taarabt would shine at a team like Liverpool immediately but for his career to really progress he will need to leave QPR sooner rather than later. QPR should get rid now whilst his stock is still high!
