Wolves v Chelsea – Blues to get back on track against depleted Wolves

|

Carlo Ancelotti has asked his players to stay focused to make sure that Chelsea finish in the top four as a minimum requirement and insists that things are steadily improving, so is expecting nothing less than a win on Wednesday at Wolves.

The Chelsea manager said:

“We have to pay attention because there are a lot of teams involved in the race for first position. We have to think now that we are able to win the title again but we also want to play in the Champions League next year. I am not worried, I think we have the skills to play in the top four.

“In three of the last four games, we lost six points by conceding goals in the last minutes and we could have been at the top of the table. We have to stay focused.”

The Blues’ away day at the Molineux stadium tomorrow could not really come at a better time for a side lacking in confidence as Wolves are bottom of the league and suffering problems of their own.

Mick McCarthy’s squad is looking rather depleted at the moment as Kevin Doyle, Jody Craddock, Karl Henry, Michael Mancienne (can’t play against his parent club) and Steven Mouyokolo are all out of tomorrow’s encounter, as well as long-term casualties Michael Kightly and Adlene Guedioura.

As for Chelsea, our injury problems seem to be easing as Yury Zhirkov and Yossi Benayoun remain the only unavailable players to injury. We also have Branislav Ivanovic returning from his one game suspension.

I think Chelsea will probably still make hard work of this game despite Wolves’ numerous problems, but will be optimistic and predict a 2-0 victory.
