On the latest video for his YouTube channel, Football.london journalist Alasdair Gold has been discussing the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur and discussing some of the transfer business that the Lilywhites could conduct this summer.

One topic of discussion on his recent video was QPR midfielder and reported Spurs transfer target, Eberechi Eze. The youngster dazzled in the most recent Championship season; contributing 14 goals and eight assists for the Hoops in the second division, which saw him rated as the joint-third best player in the division across the season (per WhoScored).

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? - Who did Spurs beat in the opening fixture?

Here’s what Gold had to say about the 22-year-old, and Spurs’ chances of signing him this summer:

“Eze at QPR – he’s one that Spurs have certainly looked at a lot. I do fear that they’ve maybe waited a bit too long; there’s a lot of talk that Palace are really getting close to a deal with him and West Ham are sniffing around, too. I do wonder whether he’s quite the player that Spurs need right now. He’s a dangerous player [but] I’m not entirely sure he’s a playmaker.

“I think they’ve got a lot of wingers and pacey dribblers, but I don’t know whether they have that other advanced playmaker [so] they may decide to prioritise elsewhere. I’d love to see him at Spurs because he’s an incredibly talented young player.”

TIF Thoughts…

As Gold suggests, both Palace and West Ham have been linked with the former Wycombe Wanderers loanee in recent months, so the Lilywhites will perhaps have to be decisive if they want to avoid missing out on his signing this summer.

Should Spurs sign Eze this summer?

Although the North London club are well-stocked when it comes to wingers, Eze did feature as an attacking-midfielder on 13 occasions in the recent Championship season; averaging a 7.21 rating there (per Whoscored) for Mark Warburton’s side, so perhaps he could prove to be just as, if not more, effective should Spurs sign him this summer and play him in that position.
