Gareth McAuley is confident that there is at least another year left in his legs.

According to an interview in the Birmingham Mail the defender is expecting to complete a new deal to stay on at The Hawthorns for another season.

McAuley is in his sixth season at West Brom after moving from Ipswich Town and has played in every Premier League game this season.

At the age of 37 the Irishman is as fit as anyone else at the club with no concerns worries or concerns about his contract.

He explained: “I want to play football next year, that’s the important thing to me.”

With the Baggies comfortably in the top half of the table manager Tony Pulis is able to do some forward planning knowing that top flight football is secure for another 12 months.

McAuley and his defensive colleagues have been a major part in the team’s success with continuity of selection essential in defensive as Pulis looks to continue the run with full points at home to Bournemouth on Saturday.
