Kenny Burns believes that Nottingham Forest will reap the benefits of Ross McCormack’s fall out with Steve Bruce.

Speaking to the Nottingham Post, Burns believes that Forest can benefit big time from the £12m striker’s fall out with Aston Villa.

Forest couldn’t get close to that sort of transfer fee but as they attempt to battle their way out of the relegation dogfight they’ve managed to land themselves a Championship goal specialist.

Burns said: “You just have to look at his goalscoring record to see what he could add to Forest’s attack between now and the end of the season.

Bags of goals for Cardiff City, Leeds United and Fulham over the last eight seasons show just how lethal he is in front of goal when he’s on his game.

It’s why Villa splashed out £12m to sign him from Fulham only last August, thinking he would spearhead their challenge to make an instant return to the Premier League.”

Forest’s aims aren’t as ambitious as returning to the Premier League but if McCormack can recapture his goal touch he should be able to steer the club well away from the relegation zone.

Burns made the same journey as McCormack, from Birmingham City to Forest in the seventies, and never looked back.

Brian Clough converted the Scottish internationalist from a striker into a centre half who played a full part in the club’s most successful years.
