Steve Bruce has no doubt that he is the man to turn Aston Villa around.

Villa have taken one point from their last seven matches as their play-off hopes have switched towards looking over their shoulder at the relegation places.

After leading Hull City to promotion last season the appointment of Bruce seemed a sound move by the Villa board to point the club in the right direction.

Despite bringing in seven players during the January transfer window, including £10m striker Scott Hogan, questions are being asked about whether Bruce can get Villa moving in the right direction.

I will turn it around, I’m absolutely convinced,” he told the Birmingham Mail about the burning question among Villa fans.

I need time and, of course, I need a few results but six weeks ago I’m the saviour and now it’s off with his head.”

The fixture list hasn’t been kind to Bruce with Villa’s next match coming on Monday away to Newcastle with Sky Sports screening the match.

On the back of home defeats from Ipswich and Barnsley, Villa travel to the north east at odds of 5/1 to put one over on Rafa Benitez’s side.
