AC Milan set to make Lindelof bid

|

AC Milan want to snatch Victor Lindelof from Manchester United to signal their intent to the forefront of the European game.

According to a report in The Sun the Italian sign want to make the Benfica defender the signature signing to mark a new era for the club.

A deal to bring in over £600m of Chinese investment will be announced in March with almost a quarter of that money set aside for transfer funds.

United have been negotiating with Benfica to sign the defender since December but were unable to get the deal completed during the January transfer window.

Benfica signed Lindelof from Swedish side Vasteras in 2012 and have made a follow up payment to cancel out their sell-on clause for the defender.

Last week there were reports last week that United had agreed a pre-contract agreement to sign Lindelof in the summer but a big money bid from AC Milan could be yet another twist in this long running transfer drama.
