Arsene Wenger is close to agreeing a new contract to stay on at Arsenal.

According to a report in The Mirror the Frenchman will agree a two year extension in March to keep control at The Emirates.

Wenger is in his 21st year in charge of Arsenal and been at the centre of fierce debate among fans about his continuing reign at the club.

Celebrity fan Piers Morgan has been among Wenger’s biggest critics but there seems to be no dispute among the club directors about his contribution to Arsenal.

With his own contract appearing to be resolved Wenger will turn his full attention to getting Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez to extend their contracts.

Both players are under contract until June 2018 with this summer the realistic deadline for signing up to new contracts or the club trying to force a sale.

Ozil claimed that the future of Wenger would be a big factor in his decision, it remains to be seen if he will now follow his boss and commit his future to Arsenal.
