Inter Milan will fight Manchester United all the way for the signing of Kostas Manolas from Roma.
According to a report in The Sun Inter are preparing a £50m bid that will prevent the Roma defender from quitting Serie A.
Inter are expected to invest strongly in the summer with the Greek defender one of their top targets.
Jose Mourinho has been interested in Manolas for some time but has stepped things up due to the long drawn out saga trying to sign Victor Lidelof.
Manolas is in his third season at Roma and is widely acknowledged as one of the best central defenders in Serie A.
At 25-years-of-age his best years are still ahead of him with Mourinho hoping to convince the defender that Old Trafford is the place to be.
With Manolas settled in Italy Inter are hopeful that a move to the northern city will appeal as they attenpt to challenge Juventus and re-establish themselves in the Europa League.
