Arsenal are lining up a move for M’Baye Niang as they prepare for the possibility of Alexis Sanchez leaving the club.

According to a report in The Sun the AC Milan striker is being watched closely by Wenger after previously being on trial at Arsenal.

The 22-year-old broke into the AC Milan side last season and although he hasn’t been prolific in front of goal he has impressed Arsenal’s scouting network with his work rate and movement.

Arsenal have had to step up their scouting work as the Sanchez saga gets drawn out without any signs of a breakthrough.

The former Barcelona striker is under contract until June 2018 and is looking for a pay hike to put him in line with the highest earners at Manchester United and Manchester City.

Arsenal are believed to be looking at a pay ceiling off £200,000/week but unless they change that significantly it seems certain that Sanchez will be sold abroad this summer.
