Chelsea are in line for a £10m bonus for a striker that has never kicked a ball in anger for the club!

According to a report in The Mirror Middlesbrough are about to pay £6m for Patrick Bamford with a further £4m linked to bonus payments.

Chelsea signed Bamford as a trainee from Nottingham Forest in 2012 and have sent him out on loan to MK Dons, Derby, Middlesbrough, Crystal Palace, Norwich and Burnley as well as a highly successful period with ‘Boro during the 2014/15 season.

Subsequent loans have failed to work out for the 23-year-old but that hasn’t put Aitor Karanka off bringing him back to the Riverside.

‘Boro have struggled in front of goal all season with just 17 goals scored from 21 matches.

Only Chelsea, Spurs and Manchester United have lost less goals than Boro with Karanka hoping that Bamford can hit the goal trail to lift Boro away from the drop zone.
