Liverpool poised to offer star attacker new deal

Liverpool are ready to make Philippe Coutinho their highest paid player by offering the Brazilian a new deal worth £150,000/week.

According to a report in the Daily Star Liverpool are ready to pre-empt interest from Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris St Germain by getting Coutinho onto a new deal even though he is under contract until 2020.

Liverpool are determined to avoid a repeat of the Raheem Sterling case when the player dominated negotiations making a transfer to Manchester City inevitable.

Coutinho is currently out injured but his dazzling early season form alerted the biggest clubs in Europe to the ability of the 24-year-old who joined Liverpool in 2013 from Inter Milan.

Under Jurgen Klopp Coutinho has rediscovered his best form with Liverpool anxious to reward him.

With the new television deal flooding through the game contracts signed in the last 24 months are being quickly revised to keep pace with the transfer deals currently being negotiated.
