Dundee United fan Tommy McKay has won the SPFL goal of the month- despite having just one leg.

The 32-year-old scored with a remarkable chip during a half-time competition when United hosted Dunfermline in a Championship fixture.

Over 6,000 fans were inside the ground when the amputee stepped forward and scored with his spectacular goal.

When he entered the competition McKay failed to mention his disability and has been overwhelmed by the reaction to his effort.

Video clips of the amazing goal quickly went viral of social media with the SPFL including the strike in their nominations for goal of the month.

Despite being up against efforts from Celtic and Rangers stars McKay polled 80% of the vote to take the trophy to Tannadice, home of Dundee United.

After collecting his award the United fan said: “To have been chosen as the Ladbrokes SPFL goal of the month for November is completely overwhelming and is truly beyond my wildest dreams, especially when all the goals this month were worthy winners.

McKay lost his leg as a child after bone cancer was diagnosed but hasn’t let the disability put him off playing and watching football.
