Mauricio Pochettino believes that Jose Mourinho comes in for special treatment from referees.

On Sunday the two men will be side-by-side on the touchline at Old Trafford with most attention on the ‘Special One’ prowling the home dug-out.

Despite finally landing his dream, job it has hardly been a season of joy and happiness for the former Chelsea boss as he attempts to put his stamp on Manchester United.

Rows with referees and other officials have been part and parcel of life for Mourinho throughout his career with two touchline bans and three separate charges already this season.

Mourinho was especially upset at his last ban for kicking over a water bottle and has an ally in the Spurs boss.

I try to be objective and his behaviour is no different from other managers’,” said Pochettino. “But because he is the Special One sometimes referees, people, media focus on him.

But if you compare with other managers who might behave worse than him, they are not in focus because they are not the Special One like him.

It is very difficult to have that control sometimes to manage yourself. You get frustrated on the touchline. His behaviour is normal; sometimes you are frustrated for a decision and you show your disappointment.”

Spurs go to Old Trafford six points clear of the home side who have drawn each of their last three Premier League matches- at home to Arsenal and West Ham plus an away draw last week at Everton.
