Manchester City are lining up a bid for Ipswich Town’s coveted midfielder Ben Knight.
According to a report in The Telegraph the 15-year old England internationalist is the latest emerging talent to be identified by City’s extensive Academy set up.
City are fast developing a reputation for having the best of the best in their youth set up but Ipswich have a long standing tradition going back to the Bobby Robson days of developing and giving young players an opportunity.
Knight could realistically expect to enjoy first team football within three years at Ipswich but would be training on a daily basis with many of his international team-mates if he moved to Manchester.
The strength of City’s Academy set up was demonstrated with a recent 9-0 win over their counterparts from Old Trafford.
Former Liverpool and Ireland winger Mark Kennedy is in charge of City’s u-15 set up at the Etihad Campus.
